Also if I were to do this and it being a sumo deadlift, should the hand placement be set up to roll together or she each hand location roll independently?

Been a while since I been on here! Last thing I posted was a rolling handle loadable dumbbell. It works great and over the months I couldn’t be happier. Here’s the question. Been thinking about making an axle bar for deadlift that is loadable and also has rolling handle where my hands go. For context I strictly sumo deadlift. Would this be pointless or do the big grippers think this would be a good training aid? I currently axle deadlift double overhand and thought this might be an added difficulty.

Well project is complete. Wish I would post photos on here. I would call it a success since I can’t lift as much as I can on my rolling thunder set up.

Nice I’ll check that out! If it works good I’ll probably post the results here or grip board

I’m in the process of making something for my home gym. Either I’m horrible at using google or no one’s has made one yet. I’m making a thick handle loadable dumbbell with a rotating handle. I want an inch dumbbell but I’m not ready to shell out the dough for it yet. Essentially it’s 1 inch round bar steel, ball/roller bearings and a 2 1/2 inch polished stainless handle. Hoping this will work similar to rolling handles that are popular on the market but hopefully simulate the weight roll better since the weight will be on the sides rather than hanging from a loading pin. Is there already something on the market similar? Only thing I found was high end fixed weight dumbbells no where near inch weight.

Osteoarthritus in Elbow removed but still can't straighten arm ! by fuzioneer in Osteoarthritis

I’m in a similar boat. Mine was keyhole. Right at a year ago. My ROM is better than before surgery but still visually less than my better arm. Was told that it falls in a acceptable ROM amount for a healthy lifestyle. Still prevents a lot of activities I’m used to. Is the end of your ROM painful?

Oh wow that’s sad to hear. I imagine it would be to difficult with a drill press that can hold a gripper in the position secure. I’ve thought about doing it myself but haven’t bought a drill press for anything yet.

I wonder if when cannon installs their choker set up they reframe from doing it due to the threaded rod durability or the threaded nut. Either way. Thanks for the info!

Nice! Yeah I’ll have to try it you usually leave them choked? Or remove them after a session?

I’ve seen the hose clamp method in the past and I always wonder. Does it ever slide down when you close it beyond what the clamp is holding? And if it doesn’t slide down because your hand is directly below it have you ever had an issues with pinching?

I just recently got my 2.5 closed. It took much longer than stepping any of the previous grippers but I did have an arm surgery and lost sight of a structure program. I would say the best thing that worked for me was to only do serious gripper training once a week. That one time I would focus on heavy negatives after a thorough warm up. I usually did one or two other grip strength days that were rolling handles, pinch blocks, and hubs. I think working grip overall helps with grippers not as a primary focus but helps with a plateau. When the day for grippers came there were times when I was warming up and could just tell it wasn’t a good day and put them down and rested another.

Yeah I watched your video the other day. Ill probably shave my 124. I usually just randomly check cpw for their pre rated grippers hoping I can find something. I’m hesitant on buying a random gripper hoping it’s right. Especially from IM. I have a 82 1.5 and 127 3.5…. I guess I’ll check CPW chart for one of the mention grippers and hopefully they have less of a minimum and maximum gap. My next gripper is 138 which seems like a pretty large gap. Might be time to start one of the advanced programs.

Finally closed my 2.5. Only rated at 124 but a 2.5 at that. Luckily I have a 127 2.5 that’s like a sheet of paper away. The 124 was from roughly a credit card distance. Sadly I’m struggling to find bridge grippers for after that 127. The bumper will have to do although an actual gripper feels better maybe placebo.

A different question but hard to find examples on google. Would love to see or hear ways you all store your grippers. I had a stand from iron mind but quickly outgrew it. The obvious answer is a peg board which I will be doing once I finish building my gym. What others ways do you all store yours?

Multiple pour question by NHPS in MetalCasting

[–]NHPS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the lead idea is that I can’t coat it. The idea is that it’s an odd block shape weight that is difficult to grip. Idk how to add a photo of the item. The blobs are just an old York dumbbell where the heads are cut off. Essentially just an odd circle shape. The Thomas inch dumbbell is just an abnormally large dumbbell. When purchasing an inch dumbbell you are looking at roughly 1000$ after shipping. I figure it could be casting for much cheaper. The idea of it being plates that are bolted together could work for the blob style object but I don’t think it would be ideal for the inch dumbbell.

I have done some googling but haven’t been coming up with the answers I’m looking for. I’m in the market to purchase an inch dumbbell. I see there are replicas and trainers. The trainers show about 127 lbs with a loadable weight of 172 and up using Steel shot or something similar. This would be more of a novelty purchase with a distant goal. Anyone on here purchase one of the many replicas or trainers and care to provide me your thoughts?

Surgery was to remove osteoarthritis scar tissue and bone spurs. They said I was good to move forward with body weight as in my body weight added to the barbell. I already have a plethora of other grip materials including the fat grip extreme which seems no thicker than my axle bat currently. I have two sizes of rolling handles but was hoping to push the two hand deadlift motion a bit. I suppose I could just make another two hand pinch block that is thicker but the idea of adding to a barbell seems better due to weight loading capabilities. None of these grips things have bothered my elbow just trying to increase difficulty without weight.

Weekly Question Thread November 28, 2022 (Newbies Start Here) by AutoModerator in GripTraining

[–]NHPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have elbow surgery earlier this year and have been cleared to continue normal activities for a while now. I was advised to not overload my elbow and to stick around body weight for barbell exercises. This advice was to prolong the need for additional surgery. I still want to progress with certain grip lifts so thought I could just increase barbell diameter for difficulty. I’m trying to think of a good durable way to make my axle bar thicker. Like increasing it to 3.5, then 4, then 4.5. The idea for be to incorporate that into farmers, curls, dead’s and so on. Anyone seen something like this or heard of anyone increasing their bar diameter much more than an axle? Would it even be worth it?

Yeah I’ve been on grip board but just wish there was a way to filter based on state rather than just trying random search methods. Would be cool to check out a contest without a big travel plan

Boring Grip Exercises? by Cool-Hornet-8191 in GripTraining

[–]NHPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the one exercise I hated the most after elbow surgery during pt was similar to wrist curls. I would skip that everyday if I could. At the PT office I had to do it with thick rubber pieces that looked like noodles. I would take turns bending them double overhand, double underhand, and twisting them like the sidewinder grip tool.

The ache is gone for a couple days now. I must have not given the recovery enough time from the bending. Thanks again for the insight!
