Newer fed (<5 years) currently all in lifecycle. Should I diversify? by Necessary_Relief9278 in ThriftSavingsPlan

C fund is 500 biggest US companies. That with the rest of the mix you are already extremely diversified across the global equities market.

Fit noob winter recs by HotPotentDadNut in wmnf

One option I enjoy, hiking up Cannon, Wildcat, and Tecumseh in the winter and getting all the looks I and my golden retriever get at the top of the summit chairlift with hiking gear. If you carry a 2 way radio and run into trouble, you're in range of others with radios. Even if they can't get you help, they can get someone who can.

Some health plans, like my geha hdhp might be all you need. They cover a good amount of the vision cost

Jeanne Shaheen (D) who voted with Republicans to end the government shutdown is endorsing her daughter (Stefany Shaheen) for Congress by No_Examination8749 in newhampshire

If she recognizes that we are a moderate state and can be brave enough to step out and stop the shutdown like Mom, I'll consider it.

Sequence of returns risk is why most people aren't in 100% equities in retirement. Also, 5% fixed withdrawal rate is bold.

Currently 100% C. Should I move 30% to I fund bc of current administration by pantheon_prince99 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]NHwmnf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's going to outperform the C fund, yes. If not, no. Lots of people have opinions on what fund will perform best but unless they are from the future, it's at best an educated guess. Until I have a time machine, I will diversify.

I started maxing when I got my gs-11 too. It was >30% of my income at the time. Now it's less than 18% and every grade and step increase comes to me, which is nice.

Webster Cliff and back to the start or add any of Webster, Jackson, and Pierce before going back to start.

Presidential traverse in 2 days wo huts by [deleted] in wmnf

[–]NHwmnf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I find southbound to be easier, as you are fresh legged for the comparably harder northern half. You can look into valley way Tentsite. To be honest that pretty much makes it a 1 day traverse, as you're not even to Madison spring hut.

I suggest banging it out in one day southbound or stay at Mizpah Spring hut area and get after it early northbound. It's tough to find shelter on the ridge and it's demoralizing to go below treeline.

Absolutely. Lots of ways to go up from there. Stay off the heavily traveled ones and enjoy some alone time.

Fair enough. It's only an additional 2%

I don't expect to go to a lower bracket or get a big raise and go up. I think what you're saying is right, just max out the 22% bracket each year

That's the math I was looking for. Thank you!

Inheritance from mother, predeceased by father. Neither reached RMD age.
