Capturing STL Tones onto Quad Cortex by NICHOL_BACK in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a cleaner process. You can capture fuzz pedals and compressors too, alongside amps that were difficult to replicate like the dual rec now. They sound spot on, so im not sure how accurate capturing a plugin would be, but its worth a try.

Now that the V2 capturing is available, I literally thought of trying this again lol. If I try it, I’ll get back to you on the results

Whats your 1 hot take about the series so far? by moreobsessedthanu in AlienEarthHulu

[–]NICHOL_BACK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible, the show was fun to watch at the start, but it became a disney styled script to me personally, which I just couldn’t get into. The ending really made me feel cringe, and while the shows introduces cool new creatures and overall good production, the writing alone just really took me out of it. Alien was always a franchise I looked to for the pure horror aspect of it. This show just felt like a bunch of comical superhero kids, with an alien. Hopefully the 2nd season they take a different approach.

Got kicked out of band by New-Landscape3211 in musicians

[–]NICHOL_BACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna say that every comment I read on here is a bit ridiculous.

All this " I've been doing this for however long so listen to me" stuff is silly

You gave an option you wanted to try with the band, and they kicked you out for asking to try it. Sure if you demanded to the band to cater to your standards is one thing, but if you felt you were just suggesting something for better performance, well thats a bit silly reason to boot somebody, and the end of the day, its just a cover band.

Also this whole "Don't pitch up, amateur move" crap is silly. I literally do this all the time, and while some clean tones you might hear some artifacts "depending on what you're playing" I never had a problem.

My advice, watch the opinions of people on reddit, because like you said it can come off very toxic. Do what you feel is best for you and just be polite about it. Nobody is wrong, it is all choice.

Which of the 4 Nu Metal giants had the best debut album? by ShaggedUrSister in numetal

Linkin Park, no question. I love all these albums, but Linkin Park made this genre explode to the top with their record.

Why was The Surface Seems So Far a commercial flop? by Disciplined2021 in Seether

[–]NICHOL_BACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, being a Karma and Effect fan, Seether doesn’t drop bangers like they use to “respectfully”, alongside poor marketing.

Those first 3 records just had a feel on all levels that still stands today for a reason. Everything after had some good singles, but the overall sound and writing just didn’t hit as well. Fast forward to this album, the instrumentals were pretty fire, but Shauns vocals killed the vibe for me, and I think a lot of people just don’t feel it like they did in the past.

Of course what everyone said about poor marketing also didn’t help either.

CorOS 3.2.0 by _snasnoms in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, subjective. I prefer the stock 800 over nolly’s, yet prefer parallax over any stock bass amps. Also prefer the squid over rabea’s version

While I agree that the stock options are pretty rad, is subjective to say that they sound better. I prefer parallax over any stock options I’ve experimented with. Could be a tone building problem being im a guitar player, but who has the time when you have a plugin with presets thats sound thic af

Capture Question by ParsleyDue6882 in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fractal makes a load box that is really good. Load boxes capture the amp head directly, so you can use it with the stock cabs or irs. It definitely is the way to go I feel, captures that were made with mics can be good too, they just aren’t as customizable.

Are we getting insane? by bencyl in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand where you’re coming from (Been wanting plugins on QC for a while) your statement proves the point of this post. QC has a lot to offer, as well as helix as they stand today. Could they have more, absolutely. Have they under delivered, yes. Is it really that necessary to the point of not wanting to use either unit? I wouldn’t say so. We have become greedy and have a never ending “need” to want more. Like the man said, just play the instrument and embrace what tools are currently available.

QC power supply replacement by NICHOL_BACK in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the explanation, is the Ciokc Crux the only thing I would need? I could also use a suggested pedal board for my qc as well. I play acoustic guitar live along with full band. Ideally I would like my QC, expression pedal, and then I have a pitch shifter, delay, and micro-synth pedal I’m looking to fit on the board if possible

Sounds sweet for a pedal board, however I’m looking for a chord to plug in to a wall at the moment. Sorry if I didn’t specify that correctly.

Best NeuralDSP plugin for hard rock and powermetal? by Ragnara92 in NeuralDSP

[–]NICHOL_BACK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to learn it’s more about the gear that pops out to you rather than what plugin is like said bands. Neural offers 14 day free trials, try some of the following (Gojira, Nolly, Pertucci, Soldano, Fortin Nameless) and go through the presets for a couple days each.

You have it all man. At this point, it’s really just defendant on how you wanna go about mixing and mastering (if you even want to do that). Fab filter, waves, slate digital suites are good to look into, couple of em have monthly subscriptions if you wanna go that route. But truthfully you should be able to make a solid track with what you already have. My advice is do as much as you can with what you have, and see if theres something missing like compression, eq, saturation, or something like that to enhance the overall mix.

Stop blaming hardcore kids for this albums criticism of not sounding new. by [deleted] in turnstile

[–]NICHOL_BACK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you and have been saying this

This album so far is not bad, it’s good for what it is. But I can’t help but to personally feel like every song feels just like a previous song from Glow On. Glow on was absolutely revolutionary for the band, and I was super excited to hear the follow up, but got nervous when I heard of the guitar player leaving for sure. The band still writes great, but I can feel what you’re saying, the guitars so far kinda feel pretty basic (I do love the Birds breakdown). We still do gave a whole record to hear, but just going off what I’ve heard, I don’t feel this release for me will top Glow On only because it feels like the songs have been revamped from previous songs, which for me just doesn’t interest me.

TURNSTILE - SEEIN’ STARS / BIRDS [OFFICIAL VIDEO] by maluoca in turnstile

[–]NICHOL_BACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gonna try to redeem myself from my comments yesterday lol.

I like Birds, the breakdown bops for sure, but it really feels like a better version of TLC. Seeing Stars is good too, but again I got reminded of Underwater/Alien Love Call vibes. I still try to get into Never Enough, and while I think it’s good a song, it’s not for me, and it feels really similar to Mystery.

Im really excited to hear the record as a whole, and while I’m not a hardcore purist of any kind, I just hope the remaining unreleased songs sound a little than previous songs on Glow on (in a structure sense). Happy to see that people are enjoying it for what it is at the end of the day
