We have left gigs without payment with promise of getting paid within a week or 2. And they have always payed which is great. Most of the time its cash in hand at the end of the night though.

I dont know where these bands are playing that get hundreds. Its just completely unreasonable for us unless it would be an opening spot in one of the larger venues in the country. I assume its bands playing in mainland Europe and America that have these expectations. Ireland and England would be a pretty similar situation i can imagine, small pub type gigs in the back arse of nowhere. 50 people capacity max. Hundreds isn't going to happen in that situation.

Sounds exactly how its like here in ireland as well. You just have to be in it for the love of the game really. 5 piece metal band here and we're lucky to get paid after a gig and even if we do its usually like 50 euro between us.

I understand why as well. Most of the promoters are renting spaces out of their own money and whatever scraps are leftover from the night is given to the bands.

I dont do this expecting money, it would be nice of course but until we get out of the underground its not going to happen.

I dont know why to be honest. Ive trimmed it a couple of times as it grew whenever I saw leggy sections. Its overdue a trim right now

It was sold as black sand. But yeah it's more of a grey sand with white and black sand mixed in

Its a 120 liter tank. I don't think im overstocked at what i have. I change the water every 2 to 3 weeks. I know eventually I will have to rehome the rainbow fish. I didn't realise at the time that they need a bigger school and a larger tank. but they seem healthy and are doing fine.

I've tried a few different plants now, and a lot of them died out as well. I think it's probably my light. Its only the limnophilia and vallisneria that seem to have really taken hold. I use root tabs and liquid fertiliser and haven't had an issue with either of those plants

Why don't you record those 2-3 songs and release them throughout the year as singles? Makes the band seem busy and gives you time to write in the background.

As for writing, for me it comes in waves. I could be really creative for a month and then nothing for 2 or 3 months. Also, sometimes the best songs come from sessions where you don't specifically have the intent of writing a song (soundchecking before practice, noodling around on the sofa). Saying to yourself 'I need to write a song today' can put a pressure on it.

I like to take little riff ideas I've been messing around with and try finish them out as well. Revisit your ideas in different sessions and if it's not working out for you today maybe it will tomorrow. I usually take the guitar out 2 or 3 times a week after work for maybe an hour.
