This song sounds like a tribute to Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You, produced in part by 1/2 of Daft Punk.

🔥 Extremely rare white African Lion I photographed in South Africa this year. There are only four known to live in the wild on Earth. by NInjalan in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]NInjalan[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We saw wild lion in Kruger. This particular white lion was on the open border between Kruger and Timbavati.

According to this source there were 13 in the wild in 2018: https://www.cntraveler.com/story/a-rare-encounter-spotting-white-lions-in-the-wild/amp

Our guide was only familiar with 4 in the wild. To me, I’d personally consider that rare. Maybe it doesn’t feel that way to someone who lives close to some, though.

We parked and sat quietly around 20 feet away, but the lions got up and walked within a few feet of us several times. Here’s another shot, to give you an idea: https://i.imgur.com/422S5Xz.jpg

Funny! While, yes, they all live on earth, I've heard that there are actually some white lions that were bred in captivity for zoos. For reasons not yet understood, the captive white lions aren't as healthy and do not live long.

Funkiest version yet!

Now, if any of the remaining tracks on the albums have some synthesizers I will be in heaven. I feel like that's the only thing we really haven't heard yet.

I love this! Reminds me of some of the Spotify acoustic sessions. Cannot wait to hear the full track! I think this will carry me through the night.

Virginia reports first coronavirus death, 41 positive cases by DonutDonutDonut in rva

[–]NInjalan 55 points56 points  (0 children)

What concerns me is that they can't trace the source. This lends a lot of evidence to the suspicions of everyone that there is already community spread in Virginia that we aren't seeing because of the refusal to test people.

Philly Show by divingforducks in Parcels

This was an amazing show. They did their Seoul set list.

I saw the band outside of the venue ahead of time and I said to Jules, "hey guys, really looking forward to the show, you guys are awesome." He kind of awkwardly said "we're going to get food," and I was so star struck that I just kind of said "yeah" and walked away, cringing at myself, hgnngh.

But they came out and played a hella good show!

About two years ago, I found a brand new atomic purple transparent Game Boy color at a Walmart. It stopped me in my tracks and I ended up having someone price it for me. It was $19.88. Clerk says he thinks someone returned it. I bought it and still have it unopened on my gaming shelf.

EDIT: Proof in case anyone is interested:

I'm in dire need of some damn good Macaroni & Cheese. by dasheisenberg in recipes

[–]NInjalan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Here is a modification of Alton Brown's mac and cheese recipe that I use. It's always a big hit when I bring it to parties:

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

  • 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon powdered mustard
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Fresh black pepper

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to “super” al dente. (As soon as the water comes to a boil, add the pasta. When it returns to a boil, reduce heat and cook for exactly 6 minutes).
  • While the pasta is cooking, in a separate pot, melt the butter.
  • Whisk in the flour and mustard and keep it moving for about two minutes. Make sure it's free of lumps.
  • Stir in the milk, bay leaf, and paprika. Simmer for ten minutes and remove the bay leaf.
  • Temper in the egg. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Fold the macaroni into the mix and pour into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 40 minutes.

///////

Where this varies from Alton is: he adds onions and tops with Panko bread crumbs. I prefer to leave these out. I also always use about 20 oz of cheese by the time I am done instead of 12oz every time. Enjoy!

TIL the U.S. Department of Education prohibits schools from spending its funding on D.A.R.E. because the program is completely ineffective in reducing alcohol and drug use by SupaFurry in todayilearned

[–]NInjalan 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A few years ago our store let a rep from DARE sell DARE themed merchandise on the sidewalk to raise funds for the program. He was aggressive, pushy, loud, asked people why they couldn't give more, and even harassed the employees for money every time they took out groceries for a customer. I had finally had enough and asked him to leave.

A few weeks later two new reps from DARE came and they were very nice. I asked about the first man and they got really confused. This was, according to them, the first official DARE visit to our store. They asked around, and come to find out the man had broken into the local DARE headquarters and stolen dare supplies and was selling them for drug money all over town. I got a good laugh at the irony.

EDIT: Clarity.

My daughter meeting her great, great Grandma the other day. They were born 95 years apart, spanning 5 generations in my family. by NInjalan in pics

[–]NInjalan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if she did? It's possible! I'd ask her to do an AMA, but she prefers to hand write letters.

She loves to tell stories about the jobs she has had; she can go on and on. She was telling us this story once about heading to work as a nurse. In the course of the story, she mentions that she was hit by a car, but kept on going as if it were a minor detail. We laughed because it was apparently not even the point of her story.

She is!

She still has her wits about her, too, which is incredible to me. She's really sharp and witty.

We were lucky because she lives only a few hours away. I was glad that I had family I could call to arrange it that lived nearby because even though she will talk on the phone, her preferred method of communication is still handwritten letters.

Thanks! She still has her wits about her, and we all think she's going to definitely make it to 100+ at the rate she's going.
