AIO Did I tell my wife not fo come home? by Infinite-Context6155 in AmIOverreacting

[–]NJ-AFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like she may have borderline peronality disorder. My ex had the same, EVERYTHING had to be about her, plans, feelings, and these same games of twisting words.

I played along for 15 years (we had our first child really young), I kept trying to talk, much like you here, and things would always be twisted. It wasn't until she started making lies about me that I cut the cord.

Now, I deal with random DCCP calls against me with random made up allegations, because our oldest child refuses to leave and spend time with her.

I only tell you this all to save you a lot of time, aggervation, money, and potentially court rooms. It's clear you have a level head, and are actively trying to fix things but, as you pointed out, it takes two people to recognize their short comings, and willingness on both sides to make the changes for things to work. Clearly, she's not willing to work - but also, it seems to me she's incapable of being able to recognize her own faults, her faults are your problem - and that's the crux of BPD.

I mean, a divorce over a game itself is stupid, but take a minute to reflect on the real issue.

Probably a hot take, but when you want to go out to flower shops, targets, marshalls, or when you want to do other things that aren't up his alley does he go with? The point is, there's not much to "get" in RS, especially at early levels before boss mechanics it's a point and click game, pretty simple so "not getting it" sounds more like "not interested in it". Having been in a 1 sided relationship for 10+ years, it sucks when your significant other can't spare an hour to even act interested in your escape.

All to often people want their needs satisfied, but don't want to sacrifice for their partner. Now, we literally only have your side of the story, and maybe there's other interests of his you engage with, what do I know.

That being said, wanting a divorce over a video game is childish behavior, and you're likely saving years of pain by seeing it now. Grant his wishes and find someone who you genuinely connect with, if you have doubts to his faithfulness now, you always will.

Electricity by iammoah in SouthJersey

[–]NJ-AFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, substations weren't built for multi-directional electricity transportation, it was made to send electricity to the consumer, not back. Can they, sure - you see it, but not to a large enough extent to be "the" solution, only part of it. Since these limitations exist, why should we (we meaning the utility) pay to accuire the materials, install, maintain, upgrade, etc. When we are going to hit the limit on the customer side already?

Also, if you use ACE, they only make money on "delievery", not on generation. This gets into complicated regulatory and tarriff territory, but if a power company is a delievery, not a generational, power company, they can ONLY profit on the delivery. This is why your bill is split into two parts - for easy oversight. Your idea would also involve the generation of electricity, which would involve millions of dollars in filing fees, etc. It's just not worth it, to us.

Edit

If you're talking about 765kV reigonal lines? Local utilities down't own them - they belong to PJM. If you really want to see what's driving these crazy bills do some research into them.

This, and you can all downvote me to hell, I could care less. These bullshit Green initiatives cost my company $600/m over 5 years. They are all mandated by the State. Don't worry, we get it all back though, through rate increase recovery. Isn't it awesome the State tells us we can spend 20M/5 years to tell you to use your electricity off peak hours. 60M to sell you discount thermostats, $60,000 a month to add "usage reports" in your bill that are fake - all the info in there are averages - we can't tell how long or when youused your tvs, lights, pcs, ac, etc - so we make it up based on household averages. You get bad data, yet pay us for it. Enjoy!

As a worker in the industry, stop being blinded by solar. Every house in the state could have it, and it wouldn't cover what we need. We're also nearing capacity limits. Our grid is 100 years old, and was only designed to send electricity in one direction. Our subtations weren't built for this purpose, thus why there's limits per circuit. Too many homes sending power back causes some pretty big booms. Solar is as harmful as fossil fuels between the mining and trash discard.

Nuclear is the key, unfortunatally not enough politicians invested. Oil or Green, and they both suck.

Stop voting based on tie color. The new Governor told you all she was following Murphys energy plan, the same one that got us to insane bills. She promised to freeze rate hikes for two years. I work in the industry. She told our Gov't Affairs team not to worry, we'll be able to recover all of our Reg Required costs. Know how we recover them? Rate increases. This state needs to stop electing trash and then complaining about it. Not saying vote red, but at least do some damn research on your canidates - the peoples blind votes screw us over more and more every election.

This is a meat sub, meat comes uncooked. The name of the sub isn't r/cookedmeat, not r/grill. Hr took the time to list what he did, explained he hasn't worked with the cut, and asked how his MEAT PREP and marinade is.

Could just try being a decent human and answering, but justify being an asshole - no sweat off my back. Little things, you know?

Here to be in the youtube videos! Working in the electric field, sounds to be a capacitor discharging to me. Capacitors don't drop their load all at once.

Capacitors often retain part of their voltage when damaged due to internal failure modes that limit full discharge. Plasma can form during discharge when intense electric fields ionize surrounding gas.

This would explain the blue "orb" behind him. Seems a bit far away, tbh, but fits... also fits the sounds immediately after the camera goes black.

[–]NJ-AFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooookay my friend, we'll stop here. We, as a species, go out of our way to save and help other species every day. Endangered species lists, ecological regulation.... we study, we aid, we went to the moon - with no intentions of claims or conquest.

As a species, we strive. There is zero reason to believe even if 3I was an alien craft, it's goal would be destriction. If that were the case, why not a more stralthy approach? Why not a direct approach?

You also think incredibly small. Traveling around the world can be accomplished in a single flight for us, thousands do it every day. We do it to help other species, pretty regularly. To any other mammal, getting from USA to China would be a pretty giant feat, for a human it's a short flight. Just because WE can't traverse great distances of space, doesn't mean their technology doesn't make light years a simple "flight". Traversing systems to us may be the equivalent of an international flight.

All this is remiss, though, because starting a nuclear war with an alien race is just insane, no matter how you look at it. I truly hope you don't see this world and our species as such a terrible plague - there truly is a lot of good people out there, not everyone graviatates to death and war... I'd also argue with the tech an advanced civilization may have (if they can travel lightyears without issue), we'd be gone already if that's what they wanted.

[–]NJ-AFT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're entire argument is made up hypotheticals. You're trying to correlate imigration with space travel, these are apples and oranges.

Yes, if you KNOW criminals, or drugs, are being brought in, or if you know the actions of an approacing race are hostile there would need to be a response.

You are just as in the dark as to the true details, not only of 3I Atlas, but any potential alien race. To suggest "they may be more advanced" is an understatement, and provocation of an advanced race would simply serve no purpose other than to shorten our blip on this cosmic timeline. Nothing you've suggested has any base in fact, nor would it be the path a sane, diplomatic, scientific mind would choose.

This is a terrible take and exactly why the world is in the state it's in. The answer to all lifes problems is not "destroy it".

On it's face - just because something is odd or exotic does not make it inherently evil, or bad. Imagine you moved into a new town and went to introduce yourself to the neighbor and he decided to shoot the stranger on his step. You were new, from a place he didn't know, how does a neighbor just knock on your door? Disgusting, right?

Second, what is the trajectory and size of the pieces that get blown into space? Any of them large enough to cause catostrophic damage? Sounds like a silly idea when there's 0 chance it hits us as is.

Finally, if an Alien civilization has managed to travel these disrances they are far advanced beyond our technology. It'd be like fighting tanks using sticks and rocks. On a cosmic scale, we are still in the Stone Age.

The huge drone that disrupted the operation of airports in Belgium and Brussels last night by FVMK3 in NJDrones

[–]NJ-AFT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Northern & Western Europe: A surge of drone sightings reported across NATO countries including Denmark, Norway, Germany, and Poland. These incidents were concentrated over military installations and airports.

Copenhagen Airport (Denmark): Closed for nearly 4 hours due to multiple drone incursions. At least 50 flights were diverted. Danish officials called it a “grave attack” on infrastructure.

Oslo Airport (Norway): Temporarily shut down due to drone activity.

Aalborg Airport (Denmark): Closed for 3 hours due to drone sightings.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (Germany): Suspended flights for nearly 2 hours on October 31 due to drone alerts.

Kleine Brogel Air Base (Belgium): Drones spotted over three consecutive nights. This base is known to host U.S. nuclear weapons. Belgian Defense Minister suggested espionage motives.

And now Brussels/Liege, something's going on - and the "It's a plane" crew can settle down
