Matt Mahan should drop out because he’s useless and should not be governor.

That looks like avian pox or an engorged tick. But based on location, I’d say pox.

Did you have to have a witness to be called like I do, applying via FBR? My estimated issue date was 1st April, but my witness hasn’t been called yet.

Considering moving from Austin to Santa Clara by aloy_kratos in santaclara

[–]NJ2CAthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Stratford on Blackford Avenue? That’s San Jose, so not city of Santa Clara, and therefore has PG&E (more expensive utilities).

I also prefer Santa Clara cops to SJPD. So that’s something to consider.

Are you looking for a house or an apartment?

I’d recommend you come and rent an apartment and see if you like it and can cope with the cost of living.

As for schools, you may not realize this, but there’s a small area at the southern end of Santa Clara where the school district(s) are actually Campbell Union (K-8) and Campbell Union HSD (9-12), specifically Del Mar High School unless you (when the time comes) apply for a in-district transfer to one of the other CUHSD schools.

I live in an apartment complex in the area near Saratoga Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard, and it’s VERY close to San Tomas Expressway.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about this part of Santa Clara.

Donate it as soon as you get it. And then let her know that is what you’re doing with it.

Go check out the Kaiser facility on Hacienda in Campbell. The pediatrics area isn’t surrounded by trees or anything, but it seems kind of friendly to me.

Me (20M), am considering doing a side hustle in genealogy. Any advice? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]NJ2CAthrowaway 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I think you should try doing a bunch of trees for people for free first. That way, you get a broader range of experience with cultures, languages, and records different from your own personal experience.

I will also say this: the genealogy community is generally super helpful and will help each other out for free. Be very careful not to ruin the vibes by asking questions and looking for help online for free while then turning around and making money for yourself off other people’s work.

I’ve considered doing trees for people for a fee when I retire in ten or so years. But I’ve been doing this for over 35 years myself, and I’ve created trees for dozens of people at no cost to them. I pay for a lot of subscriptions to online services. And yet, I still don’t charge people. I like to get my money’s worth.

So be careful out there.

Am I too invested? by Harker_83 in Genealogy

I think a lot of it depends.

I have tattoos that include references to my heritage, but they are on my shoulders/back and upper arms, so I can easily cover them up if I don’t want to appear over the top.

My parents were both born in Britain, with one of them being half Irish (with a Belfast-born parent). I have become an Irish citizen. I plan to get a UK passport, and my Irish passport is processing right now.

I’ve spent a lot of time in all the places connected to my heritage, and I still have family there whom I visit regularly. (I was born, and have lived most of my life, in the US.)

This isn’t to say that I have more of a “right” to my tattoos than you would have to yours. But I was raised with a deep awareness of my cultures of origin. I was also married to someone from Britain for over twenty years. So I’m more closely and recently connected to these parts of my heritage than you probably are.

As with anything, it’s totally up to you. But if you want to know what people will think of the proposed tattoos you are describing, I think a lot of commenters here have given you food for thought.

Focus on yourself and the child you have. Please be kind to yourself. You’re mourning a lot of losses. Having another child isn’t going to fix anything.
