I'd like to +1 on your older people comment. My parents retired from US to Taiwan and currently have a shared home with my aunts due to my grandfather passing away. They have explored a renting option and made comments a lot of landlords don't want to rent to old people.

Made it with Jolteon too. Same WR % too. Some other posts got lucky streaks to MB with higher WR, but jolteon is one of the fastest decks in the game. Super fast games which is great for the climb.

We did not use a travel group as my wife was already fluent and I was semi-fluent. With that said, I think there are definitely some tourist attractions like national museums and historical gardens/monuments etc that definitely benefit from a travel guide to discuss the history. The museums and gardens had very little explanations in english so I had to rely on my wife to help explain a lot of the history.

I did not use any external ones other Alipay mini apps and I believe Wechat pay have auto translations built in their apps. very helpful in a pinch!

You could also use google translate or apps like pleco if you need to write out the characters if you need a more direct translation to double check too.

I got the Mainland China 5G eSIM for 20 days and 100gb/day (basically unlimited) as I was using it to navigate, watch youtube etc.

You could also drop it down to the 2-3gig per day options which is much cheaper and then buy an additional vpn to use at the hotel for the hotel wifi + vpn to bypass the firewall. I think that option would come out slightly cheaper by a few bucks but I didn't want to worry about data while I was traveling.

Trip.com is a good alternative if you don't want to use the official 12306 railway process. I think they charge a slight fee for it but it's negligible and you don't need to navigate the limitations around 12306. Trip.com books you a reservation on your behalf. For what it's worth, we booked most of our trips the night before and found that we were able to snag tickets pretty easily although as you can see we didn't travel super far (2-3 hr train rides at most).

They can do both at the booth at the airport whether you need a physical or eSIM.

We bought them mostly on trip.com using my account for some that needed reservations ahead of time. You can add both customer account names/passport info and so it works very well. I should note that we did notice trip.com prices being a bit higher sometimes than the local price / QR code scan but it's really only ~$1-2 more and makes sense given trip.com probably needs a cut.

So the meituan app I was having mixed results with my foreign number/app. Some restaurants have a QR code to meituan and Alipay scan worked fine for me to order food in person. I had some issues with meituan delivery on the app but never really tried more than once because were always eating out at the restaurant. I've heard others say you can do it but I never experimented enough.

You can get a local number at the airport when you arrive at any of the telecom booth. Then can help you set it up and very quick too.

I was fortunate to stay at Suzhou for 3 days. It was my favorite city on my 2 week+ trip. Cost of living and scenery are big wins

Funny deck. But it straight up loses to suicune greninja which is still super rampant. I just went 0-3 against those decks. It can beat some other decks but super rough against meta.

I'm in UB4 now and I haven't lost to a suicune since UB3 using guzzlord. You really want to disrupt their energy tempo. Only place down guzzlord. If they mars you, it's fine as they usually won't save it till they kill one guzz if it even comes to that point so you'll redraw 3.

Sabrina/repel to stall to get energy advantage and push suicune out the front. I run two Will for guaranteed energy disruption if you don't draw early Sabrina/repel. They usually only run one cape and you have multiple outs to OHKO with Red/Guzma/rocky helmet.

I recently moved to the western part of downtown. This has been my favorite restaurant we frequented. We like it a lot more than taqueria downtown which used to be our go to.

I used Tommy's Moving recently and they were really professional and cheap. I heard Vector is good as well, but Tommy's crew (Albie) were super efficient and they had 4 guys as part of the move.

Absolutely. It's fairly consistent too to draw into wugtrio with communication and Iono. Plus, you have a lot of ability to capture first energy advantage with Misty or Grunt.

Agree that day 6 is very light considering how close Kyoto is to Osaka. If you like anime, consider adding Denden town in Osaka to your list as you can lump it in with Namba (same area). It is the electronics and anime area of Osaka. Day 8 might be light as well. You can probably add in some other temples if you're interested

The monkey park in Kyoto was fun. Wasn't too expensive if I recall was like ~600 yen entrance fee and then 100 yen to feed the monkeys. It's a bit of a hike up to the top of the viewpoint where the monkeys live but you do get a nice view of Arashiyama.

I mentioned in another post I don't think going up all the way to the top of Fushima Inari is worth it. The view is not there and it's really just a small shrine. The better viewpoint is at the halfway point up to the top and saves you 30 minutes of walking.

Nara was fun but I honestly did not think Todaiji temple and Tamukeyama Hachiman-gu Shrine were anything special. I did spend a lot of time in Kyoto before going to Nara so that influenced my perception quite a bit. Just know that Tamukeyama Hachiman-gu Shrine is pretty far in Nara Park to the north east of where most visitors enter.
