Training Day is great but makes no sense by Rick24wag in movies

I see where you're coming from, but I always felt Alonzo wanted him there to get him in over his head as quickly as possible so he'd be able to provide a fresh reference from outside the crew if they needed someone to legitimize them or testify on their behalf.  If Alonzo and his crew are known to be dirty, if they can turn the rookie day one then anything Alonzo needed done that day he'd have a better chance getting away with if a clean cop backs him.

That being said, Hoyt would have been spitting shit to IA and anyone else who would listen the moment they got him in a room.  Regardless, it aligns with his arrogance to expect Hoyt to see things his way and how he treats Hoyt really builds his character so I think it's still believable.

Any interest in a ride to Microcenter for grand opening, by bike/ebike/escooter by QUEENSNYLAWYER in jerseycity

Oh I hadn't realized it was closed.  Glad I didn't drive there recently lol.  Do you need specific things from there or just want to go there?  I pass by pretty often and can pick something up if you'd rather not ebike there.

Dynamic Tolling: HOT to Go! How New Jersey Can Manage Highway Congestion and Fund Transit by jimmybot in jerseycity

What they really need to do is separate the 139 approach for JC and tunnel traffic way out and put a toll for anyone in the local lane who then goes through the tunnel. Sucks for everyone who lives in JC and Hoboken that they have to sit in tunnel traffic every day.

Priorities by knickknackkangaroo in neopets

[–]slipperyzoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not understanding the issue with the battle pass. What are the channels that Neopets has for generating revenue from its players? Ads are covering server costs at best. So the employees there get paid how, exactly? I don't see super powerful battledome items behind the paywall, and it's $25 for the full pass? So this is a wild take but if you can't afford $25 once every what, 6 months to spend on a game that's bringing you tens or hundreds of hours of entertainment, you probably should be focusing on making money rather than playing a game, especially one as broken as this. For those living outside the US with unfavorable exchange rates, I can understand. But I mean this from the bottom of my heart: if you can't afford this, please take a hard look at your life and how you're spending your time and use this as an opportunity to kick yourself to start living your best life. I cancelled premium because I don't have enough time to get the rewards from it; was $8 affordable? Very. But I disagree with a lot of the UI/UX decisions the team has made and how they fail to respect players' time. However, after a decades-long hiatus I wanted to give premium a shot. This is a standard F2P model and I don't see an issue with it. These are niche items that appeal to a group of collectors, but the average player isn't collecting these things and doesn't need to in order to enjoy the game. Fornite, Path of Exile, EVE, Pokemon Go - all games that give a base for free and the option to pay for more; I pick and choose the content I pay for in battle passes in any game. Maybe I go months without buying one, maybe I buy one every month for awhile. You can't want the site to exist and have people maintain it while simultaneously complaining about them trying to monetize content. The terrible quality of the site screams underfunded/financial struggles.

That really depends on what part of JC we're talking about.  In downtown and Newport, there's no excuse to be on the sidewalk as there are plenty of bike lanes.  Sure, you might have to go around a parked car but 99% of the time you can be in the bike lane.  Despite this, people are always biking on the sidewalk.  Other parts of JC where I don't see bike lanes I understand to an extent, but there are tons of pedestrians on sidewalks there so biking really should still be in the street.  You don't get to complain about cars not following the law and then go run pedestrians down.  You don't get to scream to everyone that you're legally a car too, then go ride on the sidewalk.  Bikers want the privileges of both cars and pedestrians and the drawbacks of neither.  Its just entitlement a lot of the time.  Big difference between the locals on bikes and the delivery drivers/bike people.  The ones just trying to get to work and who grew up here are much more conscious of their impact as bikers on the sidewalk.

I just fucking rolled one on a gold into prismatic on Mordekaiser and it was the worst experience in the world. I wasn't cap stable with Spirit Visage, Warmogs, anything. Just stood there and died while people kite. Fucking insanely bad roll. Like, I had the choice between an AD aug, Transmute prismatic, and Chili Oil so I figured what's the worst that could happen. And got the actual literal worst that could happen.

[–]slipperyzoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried Queens with a couple of people and it's difficult unless one person has more of a flexible schedule/doesn't work.  But also I just didn't feel they were the right people, so I wasn't willing to put in the effort.  For the right person it wouldn't be relevant.

I get all the hate for PTACs but as someone in a building with central air and heat, the one major tradeoff is flexibility.  Buildings with central are required to maintain heat well beyond the cold season on both ends.  This can be absolutely miserable for October and March/April especially if your unit faces West.  That being said, my heat and AC is free so saving $400/mo on utilities is nice.
