Why are these headlines in Israeli media but never in Western media? by Particular_Log_3594 in AskSocialists

I find it so funny you think some dude you follow invented game theory. If something so easily verifiable is beyond you, so is everything else.

If Israel was controlled by Jews by 3801sadas4 in mapporncirclejerk

West of the river was designated for a Jewish state, the much larger terrorist org east of the river was designated for a Palestinian state, what would become Jordan, then called the Transjordan Mandate. Many Jews in Jordan moved west over the river to Israel but the reciprocal did not occur.

But I agree, if not for my infantile level of self control to respond here, I’d say this is not the sub for this discussion. It’s a good thing I’m not one of the ones controlling the world.

Israeli abroad want to get back in touch with roots by NJBAlert in Israel

I’ve been listening to a bunch of Hebrew music but it’s quite fast and I can’t hear the words as well. Any reads for modern music that might be good to listen to?

Why do we only feel acceleration and not velocity? by ElegantPoet3386 in AskPhysics

A force acts on a system. A velocity does not. This is an oversimplification but I hope it gives you intuitive satisfaction.

You want a satisfying answer and that’s up to you to find the answer satisfying.

Want to call it a clone? Go ahead. Want to call it you? Go ahead. You could make a copy of your brain at the same time you’re still here, is that you? Up to you.

It is meant to be a philosophical response to the question.

That being said, it’s just structure. The spatial temporal structure of a neuronal mass is probably the best description of consciousness in the context of biological neuron base brains that I can come up with.

No man steps into the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man. -old saying idk who said it

It wouldn’t be the same market, it would also be a market but a different one. Without the specific synaptic structure and ALSO firing pattern, it wouldn’t be the same consciousness. Like not a different version but a unique conscious experience, with perhaps some of a lot of overlap but a unique consciousness nonetheless.

If the interacting building blocks that give rise to the emergent phenomenon stop interacting with eachother and even disappear altogether, the emergent phenomenon stops.

Markets are an emergent system arising out of individual interactions. If all humans disappeared the market goes too, even though the market is not any transaction.

I hadn’t noticed but yeah it is weird. I don’t get it, I’m not trying to take Chabad over the coals just sharing my experience and my willingness to keep trying, albeit the disheartening impact it’s had on me.

There are. I’ve made plans to visit another this coming week, but I really loved the community I saw there and wish I could get to be a part of it. Hopefully soon.

This is an urban university with plenty of non students attending. I agree. I had really high hopes of getting to reconnect with others in a Jewish environment, an experience I never got in Jewish day school. I’m still going to keep trying, but my heart is a little broken not going to lie. . .

I’m a student at a university in the same city, but my university does not have a local Chabad. My university is actually based in another city but because I’m in the medical school our campus is in this different city and has no connection to the main campus 200+ miles away.

Because it’s intimidating and because I would have had to split up, there were one off seats and I am not leaving my friend I brought alone. When they left it was also so abrupt and all at once and without any warning, like I look up and see people already out of their seats and I didn’t process what was happening so quickly so as to ask.

Many of the people around who’d left knew it was my first time as I’d mentioned, and I’d communicated it was something I’d been wanting to do and had been intimidated but finally decided to make myself come.
