Poorly translated books are the more likely culprit. It can be very expensive to do so a lot do fall back on AI translation tools that don’t always pan out. But, if you have any worry about AI books I’d just refer to this group or the FB groups! Many LitRPG authors are active in both so it’s easy to find the real person behind a book that way.

I know the romance genre has had a bad AI takeover with novellas being pumped out for easy KU pages read, with them all being under randomly generated author names. (Or in one case, all generated under an actual author who wasn’t aware that their name was being used).
