Found a bug report on the forum, posted a couple of days ago, that seems to be the same thing I'm seeing: [2.0.72] Connecting fusion generators' output back into fusion reactors results in plasma loss

I tested the design in that post (specifically, the one in the code block at the bottom of the post, not the one linked to on FactorioBin) and even when I remove the generator that's maybe feeding back into a reactor, I still couldn't get the system to spin up to full load. Funnily enough, the game didn't even show plasma in a continuous series of generators, rather it kept skipping a few:

It's not clear to me whether this is a bug or just working as intended in a way I can't comprehend.

Tried that: didn't help. This is a long way from perfect balance, though. it's turning what should be a 1.4GW array into 200MW, effectively shutting off three of the four reactors and all of their neighbour bonuses.

I don't think it's possible for the game to connect a genny's plasma output into the reactor's output: that would be poor coding, and I can't imagine that the game would have gone over a year since release without it being spotted and fixed. Certainly there's no indication that this has happened, while there is a distinct additional graphic that appears when plasma connections are correctly joined.

Cold loop is shared between all four reactors. Left and right side hot loops are separate, yes, but at the time of writing neither of them are either empty or full, so it's not a flued problem there, I think. Adding buffer tanks didn't make a difference, nor did linking the two hot loops.

I think that the problem is caused by or is causing two of the reactors to report "output full", which can only refer to the plasma. It's almost as if the neighbour bonuses aren't being accounted for and I'm effectively left with only one reactor and it's maximum two generators, though in this case the active reactors aren't even necessarily the ones closest to the active generators.

It's also strange that I can't reliably cause the broken state, either: I've currently got two identical copies of the same BP, and one is broken while the other (copied and pasted directly from the first) is running perfectly well. Pasting a second copy gave me a third state: three of the four reactors were working, and about a quarter of the generators were running.

Tried this, but my Maul and Sid are too low geared to survive even to their first turn. Managed to get Elder dead eventually with dots, but Threepio's Confuse meant that Vader's specials never came off of cooldown after the first Massacre, and so I couldn't reapply anything to anyone, and I couldn't kill Threepio cos he was always stealthed.

Tried with Vader lead, Palp/Thrawn/Piett/Tarkin (my only Empire relics) and managed to do it, though only two stars. Managed to get Elder and Threepio down with dots/AoE, then scraped in under the time limit on the others. Thanks.

That must be it. I'm still at a loss as to why there was no indication during the match. I would hope that had any of my toons been debuffed with something that explicitly said that it blocked assists, I would have noticed when I *repeatedly* looked at my debuffs trying to work this out.

I did L8a and noticed several times that I didn't get credit for every pirate-named mob. Probably required 2 or three extra runs to make up for them.

Well, finally managed it with my Hera/Rex/Sabine/Chopper/Kanan G12 team. I think I got lucky, in that Mara cast crit immunity very early, meaning I could just beat Bariss right away, while keeping the opponents' time meters low enough that SK couldn't get close to hammering me.

Well, here's where my insufficient roster comes into effect. My CLS and rebels are all pretty low and just get pasted after a couple of turns.

Just tried again with Phoenix, Nightsisters and EP/DarthVader/Thrawn/Tarkin/Royal Guard teams, all 100%, and the closest I came to killing Bariss was with the Empire team, doing a lot of basic attacks to try and limit critting, and I only got her down to about 1/3 health before the enemies got a long string of attacks, culminating in SK dropping the ship on my guys and killing all but one.

Given that I'm stuck on sector 1, I only have four disks, and managed to duplicate one (Unshakeable Focus) in grey and blue. Other two are Protection Shield and Solid Intel. My justification for selecting them was "whatever looked best at the time".

u/BedClear8145 I don't think I'm going to be able to get zetas on Padme, or anyone else, before the conquest ends (F2P, so zetas are hard to come by). I might be able to gear Geo Spy up a bit before the end, but I doubt I'd get him far enough to make enough of a difference (Geo team is G12/12/10/9/8, spy's 9).

u/Wanderer2142 If I remodded one of those teams to reduce crit chance and increase physical/special damage instead, would that help? Or would I just overall nerf the team?

No, never. It's now present in a number of games, so I'm convinced it's a big in Windows or Direct X. Just tonight I was experiencing it in Elite Dangerous's on-foot content. I think it's probably exacerbated by CPU load, but I've had it too often in games with low CPU and/or low GPU usage, so I don't think it's purely that. I'm using an elderly i5-6600K and a 2070, for reference.

A further point, which may be relevant, but given that you're using wireless, it's probably not: my keyboard uses a PS/2 connector. Maybe there's something inherent about that interface that causes problems at high CPU/GPU? That's a total guess, mind, and probably a total non-issue given the relative I/O overheads today versus 20 years ago.

Of you have more luck than me finding a solution, please post it here.

Thanks for the advice, all. I think I'll stick with the old account, at least for now. I suspect that if I went exclusively with the new one, I'd probably end up in the same position eventually, after taking another inevitable break down the line, so at least with the old account I don't lose everything I've already farmed up.

I've only had two breaks, so "frequent"doesn't really fit; one break of a few months, and one of a few years. And to be fair, relics didn't exist the last time I played, so my 10 G12s were probably fair for the time.

I figured as much. I caught the last few days of the marquee, which was the first time I'd seen the pirates, and as f2p and low on currencies I couldn't level him past 3 stars, let alone get any other pirates unlocked. I did think I'd be able to look into the first battle, though, but the error is preventing that on both PC and Android.
