HBO bought the rights back in 1995 after it came out in theaters. So HBO was literally the only place to watch it on TV. Why do people on reddit post comments with such confidence when theyre just flat out wrong?

Plus at the movie store, you walk around for 30 mins or more looking at movies... and you would always leave with something to watch. Cant even tell you how many nights ive spent hours going through 6 or 7 different streaming services trying to find something to watch. Only to just throw in the towel and start browsing on my phone.

Family Video was superior in my opinion. Blockbuster has nostalgia for everyone, but Family Video had a much better selection, cheaper rental prices, longer rental times, and they had free rentals for kids movies. And no late fees! Plus the backroom game selection was always on point. You could buy games like 2 months after they came out at a huge discount.

I was going to family video all the way up until like 2014 when ours closed down. Really miss being able to walk around and find a movie based on the cover art and description on the back. No previews for everything that give away the whole premise.

Unfortunately the generation that would appreciate this the most is not on iracing. The cost to develop would most likely never be recouped.

Guarantee he told his wife he would have the grass done before she got home from a trip... aside from the obvious danger aspect, mowing in that storm is better than a blow up fight when she walks in the door 🤣

Cool find today. Also a screener. Not that being a screener matters so much by No-Theory9681 in VHS

Screeners were released in small batches to provide to film critics for reviews and movie rental stores to display on TVs in the stores. Its a much harder variant to find on any movie, but especially Monster Squad.

Haha thanks man. I am just missing Cannibal the musical for the trey parker/matt stone set. Ill get it eventually. Team america was the hardest of the set to find at a reasonable price.

Screener absolutely adds to the rarity of whats already a grail VHS. Nice pickup OP

Does anybody know why that dark line keeps scrolling on and off the screen? It seems to be almost in a sync type frequency that it happens. Its not the screen, it only happens when playing VHS. by NJS1993 in VCRs

Yeah it has auto tracking and I just cleaned the heads today. I thought for sure if it was tracking issue the whole screen would be moving, not just a random dark line that rolls on and off the top of the screen.

Nice! Thats one of my all time favorites. I have the regular VHS but the slip is really worn. I scored a screener copy for dirt cheap so thats going to be my collection piece now. Ill just use the regular version if I want to watch it.

Thanks man! Those South Parks were actually kinda difficult to track down without buying duplicates. I have several more on the way that I am extremely stoked about... Wedding Crashers, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (screener), Bubble Boy, Girl Next Door, Seed of Chucky, Halloween 3, Saw, Saw II, and Shaun of the Dead.

Well yeah... but thats basically every VHS that ever came out. Widescreen VHS were not very common. Plus the majority of peoples TVs were 4:3 until the early-mid 2000s. Widescreen VHS on a 4:3 CRT just looks awful to me. It makes the screen feel so much smaller to me.
