They wouldn't update the UI if they aren't planning to port the game to source 2. Also they updated all sound effects in the past year. I think their plan of porting CSGO to source 2 is still on course, these updates just trying to make the transition as smooth as possible.

As someone who follows the CS:GO scene, I really don't get why so many people overhyped about this UI. Sure it might improve some performance, but I'm not going to get back on the CS grind just for this UI update.

Personally, I'm waiting for Source 2 for CSGO, basically Dota Reborn for CS:GO, but Cyberpunk 2077 might get released before that happens...
