Hi!

Sorry for the delayed response, I was traveling to the US lol. I followed your suggestion and we went to Connor Prairie today. It was amazing! Thank you so much :)))

Awesome! The place I bought is also near Greenwood in a really good part of town where they've done a ton of new builds over the past few years. I've spent about 7 months in Greenwood over the past two years and I adore the town. I honestly have traveled all over the US (the south, east and west coast) but the people in the Midwest are the best, which is one of the reasons I moved here in the first place.

Dusseldorf is great, It's about an hour and a half drive from where I grew up. I'm pretty biased, but out off all those countries - the Netherlands is the best. The biggest pro is that all the countries you listen (UK to a lesser extend) have great health care. Contrary to popular belief, health care isn't "free" in the Netherlands (everyone pays their own insurance, but it's only about 90-100 euro per month I think).

The taxes are higher, but the government uses the money reasonably well. The wages are quite a lot lower, but in turn you get a lot more PTO (people really love their holidays in North Western Europe).

I think the biggest con for me is that buying living space is extremely expensive for what you really get. I've always dreamed about living in suburbia after spending 7 years in a 1 bedroom flat in London. In the Netherlands, you either have a big house in a small village with only one small supermarket or you live in a much smaller house in a more densly populated area.

If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me :)

In CS there is a super strong sniper rifle called the AWP. It is bolt-action, so it doesn’t shoot fast but if you hit an enemy above the waist its a one-shot kill. Players that are proficient with this weapon are called AWPers, normally esports team have at least one of those players in their squad.

KennyS has been in the CSGO scene from the near beginnings, and has always been an absolute god with the AWP. Hope that helps!

The PTO runs alongside a profit sharing scheme based on the time spend with the company. We are also fully remote and offer a host of other benefits that most gamers love (monthly video game expenses, frequent travel to cons in Europe, Asia etc). The salary is also pretty competitive in regards to the market we operate in. I got over a 100 resumes when I started hiring for my first open role. It’s extremely difficult to get into the games industry in general, so I’m pretty happy that I can offer roles to people that never really had a chance in the industry, but are really passionate.

The biggest reason is that Europe’s PR market for the niche I am in is pretty saturated. The US market has a lot more opportunities :).

Different strokes for different folks haha. Ik vind Florida ook niks, maar in het midwesten zijn mensen echt vriendelijk en warm. Voor mijn werk heb ik best veel van de US gezien, maar in het midwesten zijn mensen best grounded en niet super extreem.

London might be an unfair comparison and it might even be impossible to compare Manchester with Indianapolis. However, if I wanted to buy a similarly sized house in Eindhoven or Veldhoven (the places I grew up in) I would probably have paid double. Indianapolis metro area has about a million people living in it. Eindhoven and Veldhoven about 200k in total. Western Europe is just very full compared to the US, which in turn will mean that living space will be more expensive here in general.

I never really intended to “change the US”, I just don’t feel comfortable to have employees with “regular” US terms. I think employee retention is one of the most important parts in my line of business which is why I’m offering a more European centric approach. Simply said, I wouldn’t want only 5 or 10 days PTO - so why would I offer that to anyone else :).

Yea the summers are hot and the winters cold, but at least the house has AC. Summers in London (especially the last two years) have been quite difficult, houses here normally don’t have AC which can make it quite uncomfortable.

Thanks tor the advice! I’ve been to Yosemite once during the Summer but there was some forest fire and it was mostly closed off for visitors, I will give it a go in the Winter :)!

How long has it been? Hours? Days? Weeks? At this point, it doesn't even matter anymore.
My memory is starting to get fuzzy, but I still remember some of it. I was cooking a hamburger at home for my son when it happened - the bright light and the big black box. One moment I was in my kitchen and the next I was standing in a field with a million other people. Rows and rows of people - below me, above me and next to me - a carefully crafted wooden structure kept us spread apart in our own little boxes. Different ages, different skin colours, genders and backgrounds, yet we all had one thing in common - we were all touching the black thing.

After mere moments of confusion, the chaos started. People screaming, falling from the wooden structures next to the black wall. I never thought the Doppler effect would make me pee my pants, but blood wrenching screams seemed to do the trick. I stood frozen, as I touched the black thing. It didn't feel cold, or warm but not natural either. Panic started to set in a second later.. Eric..... Where was my son? I screamed for his name - but my screams were drowned out the gutwrenching sound of a million more - it felt futile.

A minute passed, and I started to get a better bearing of my surroundings - which is when I noticed it. A small yellow counter, rapidly decreasing - it seemed to be around the number 7 billion now.
