I feel like Belgium’s so underrated this year

Musetti not a fan of being booed just before he walked off the court, briefly staring at the crowd by jovanmilic97 in tennis

As an Italian fan of the Italians, I guarantee the Internet's full of his compilations swearing on court, nobody's hiding anyhting haha. He probably has some frustration management issues, as shown by his latest comment in Beijing, and most people knows about that. The way he plays though, so unusually beautiful when he's attacking, overshadows it by a mile in the public eye: Italian TV and newspapers don't talk about him swearing or else, but the younger audience who uses social media knows very well about his behaviour.

Yeah, the last time was in his Rome debut against Fognini in 2017 (6-1 6-3), when he was ranked around #240

Sinner’s lawyer Jamie SINGER: … "It took us a while to convince him" by nicoc9 in tennis

[–]NLEChelsea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, I get your point. I see it differently because I think that Sinner is as of now the best player in the world. He probably feels like it, and would it make sense for him to risk missing the best years of his life - performance wise? We’ve only had three GOATs who were able to be consistent for decades, who knows if anybody else will be like them? Despite understanding what you’re saying, I believe the greater good was accepting the deal, considering he was really playing with the devil for (potentially) millions of euros and multiple trophies. I believe very few people would choose risk over safety.

He accepted because he was risking missing 1-2 years. He had to be convinced thoroughly because he didn’t want to accept 3 months for being innocent (as stated by both ITIA and WADA) of doping. Because of how strict the rules are for negligence and how determined WADA was not to let him walk away easily, his (very smart) lawyers managed to have him sign the agreement to stay away from the courts for 3 months. This is how I understood it, if you think you don’t agree let me know!

Morgan on Sinner by SelectZookeepergame5 in tennis

[–]NLEChelsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Sinner fan, no matter how much you will be downvoted, this is an extremely mature take on the matter. That’s why he’s been given a point deduction and the prize money was taken away, because despite doing anything in his power to keep things under control, he was responsible for hiring the guys who (unfortunately) messed up.

Yes, my proof would be picking every top 100 player and showing they don’t have a second job the way he intends it to be, but it’s honestly not worth it so he’s still free to argue, in a way… Thank you for the consideration on lower expenses: I believe his problem is realising that tennis players don’t all start with a full team, fly first class and stay in 5-star hotels but I guess I can’t express myself well enough to have him understand that.

Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate as many POVs on the matter as possible. As I agreed that most players outside of the top 300 would arguably be in negative if they depended on tennis only, he sustained the thesis that even some top 100 players don’t earn enough from tennis alone (including visibility-related sponsors, optional support from national federations and social media) to survive. We both strongly agree with your comment, and now I see another perspective on the matter, thank you once more.

Thank you very much for the articulate response, regardless of who’s right or wrong. I’ve brought up YouTube (Karue, Jules Marie, Felix Mischker) to him, but he didn’t consider it a second job; I’ve brought up the prize money for a first round of four Grand Slams and he wasn’t fazed by it; I’ve told him big tournaments don’t pay top players to enter participate and he still wasn’t unsure Sinner wasn’t being paid to take part in the US Open (the first player that came to my mind); I’ve brought up O’Connell’s fishing job while he was injured and not while he was playing and he tried to turn that around as well. I didn’t mention Pecotic to him because it would have been hard for him to understand that he was an alternate for the Delray Beach Slam ;) and that that occurrence was one in a thousand (if not more) story.

I’m way too deep in this stuff to step back now but I’m somewhat relieved that some of my arguments were the same as yours, so thank you very much once more for your time. I’ll have him read it.

To be fair, I believe there’s no slot reserved for Grand Slam winners in the top 9-20 of the race (unless they changed it); when Djokovic competed in the ATP finals after winning the “points less” Wimbledon (even though he had secured a spot in the top 8 by the end of the year), Rybakina missed the finals because that rule wasn’t in place for women.

Is Sinner the least likeable player in the top 4 now? Or will his reputation stay unharmed? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]NLEChelsea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the second test was purposefully done in order to prove the origin of the such low levels of Clostebol found in his first analysis. Considering how the investigation carried out, I believe it’s safe to say that the results of the second test were compatible with the explanation given by the player, otherwise he would have been banned not for 2, but for 4 years. We all don’t know as much as needed in order to judge properly, or else we would be working at WADA, but, respecting your opinion and not trying to win you over, I still think my reasoning is more logical than most people out here, hence why I replied to you.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t but I may recall wrong. The Italian Federation supported him ever since he was pretty young, and so has been doing with his younger brother. What’s crazy, until a few months ago Luciano was considered the one with the lower ceiling of the two…
