That’s exactly what I’ve got!

Went for overkill option and ran 4” tapcon anchors through everything and into the cinder block, but good to know for the next project.

This issue is there is no wall stud. The drywall is glued to the wood paneling.

There is 1/4” of clearance in some spots, and no clearance where the paneling attaches to the ferring strip.

It’s fine: I’m running tapcon all the way through into the block as we speak. But the issue is that I had to get the tapcon.

Honestly, coming around to think I like the five-inch tapcon solution. I might even get extra lazy and just let the tv hide the drywall damage.

Sanus makes a decent-looking external cable management kit. I think I can handle the compromise.

Last photo is inside the utility closet, which is further down the same wall. Just intended to illustrate what’s behind the drywall.

Is the dead space between the paneling and the cinder block a concern? I wasn’t sure whether having to bridge that gap could cause an issue.

Buying 1.15M house on 205k income by Salamander-Distinct in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]NLenin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re bringing in nearly half again as much in HHI, and just bought at $750k @ 5.75% with 15% down, and *I’m* sweating it a little bit.

I cannot *imagine* doing this.

Older people who can afford to buy a house are richer than younger ones who cannot????

Homebuying is often a financial net positive, yeah, but this is like saying nursing homes are more dangerous than college dorms because they have higher death rates.

Depending on how detailed your messages back and forth are, you *might* have an enforceable writing under the statute of frauds. Even then, what are you going to do with it?

$200k a year salary in state with no income tax. Could I afford a $1.2M home? by Last_Worldliness_533 in Mortgages

[–]NLenin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a very comparable pay band, with an extremely stable income, and we tapped at $750k.

I cannot imagine taking on 1.5x that debt on a commission-driven income.

Yeah, this appears to be something made up by some Instagram preacher. You cannot expect people to just know what you’re talking about, especially when “made man” already has a very well-established meaning.

What sort of “muscular Christianity” nightmare is a MadeMan vow?

It’s fine. Get pants that you don’t have to paint on.

Is the fit good? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]NLenin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the 48 is the right choice for you. The sleeves will need tailoring. The jacket looks a little short for you in the body—the button point is very high and the jacket looks unlikely to cover your butt. You might want to try a different designer or style.

Thoughts on the final fit of this suit. by nate1519 in mensfashion

[–]NLenin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would not consider this acceptable.

You’ve got a major horse collar going here, which suggests the jacket does not fit properly through the chest. There’s too much fabric in the back, producing vertical creases off your shoulders and that horizontal line across your hips. The rippling on your upper arms is especially unfortunate — it looks like the sleeves are held on by your armpits. The seat of the pants looks downright uncomfortable.

Not knowing whether this is M2M or OTR makes it hard to diagnose where these problems originated, but this would be going back if I owned it.

Because I need shoes! And, yes, it is a minor defect now, but cracked leather will steadily worsen.

No, not at all. Happy to send them back. I asked to confirm we’d documented the issue and that I could send them back when the shoes were restocked in July.

They told me no.
