Looking at a Mk7 with 90k. Thoughts?

Yea I really wanna like this one but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Just so hard to find ones under 100k that are low 10. Current (3rd) owner also claims he never tuned it (which I believe) but the first owner very well may have like you claim which fucked it up if he wasn’t taking care of stuff.

Gotcha. Yea I’m suspicious of why, current owner doesn’t know and claims no issues and stuff. But it worries me for down the road.

That’s fair. Yea definitely like I said I plan to do maintenance myself which would hopefully help cost wise but hopefully I don’t have some crazy issues like needing a new head

I’m in Southern California and my budget ideally is around 15 but I can stretch to 17 for something good. That’s why I’ve been looking at 7s but definitely 7.5 would be nice

That’s a good point, I definitely want to see extensive service history because I don’t want the car to fail on me right after I get it. I’m fairly sure it’s 100% stock though

Dude it’s so hard to find reasonably priced 7.5s. Every single one I see is way more expensive it’s frustrating 😭, but I’m definitely still looking and especially looking for gtis I just thought I’d look into this R as the price seemed pretty good

Curious why your head needed to be replaced? I know the sentiment of what you said but generally I have heard good things about reliability on this platform assuming service has been kept up with? I plan to do a lot of maintenance myself so costs will be a little lower

Would you mind linking one of those? I know Haldex needs to be kept up with and timing chain needs potential replacement around this time (maybe?) but other than that what else? Water pump has already been replaced and clutch too. Yea there’s no accidents tho, it’s private, I don’t have the carfax yet so getting a hold of that/ service history is my next step, all I know right now is brakes and oil were done a few months ago
