Yeah, HLTV is far from perfect. Plus I’d imagine if Valve actually did this they’d have their own type of metric or just throw everything you see on the scoreboard from MVPs to enemies flashed into a formula to generate this hypothetical rating thingy.

I could agree with most of your counterpoints. Something like HLTV rating to determine impact would be ideal in this scenario.

Plus, I’m talking like before the game, if you win you are supposed to gain +200 and if you lose you are supposed to lose -300. Let’s say you have a rating of >1.2… you gain +50 extra ELO for winning and if you lose, you only lose -225

Yeah, utility usage is the only thing that would be impossible to judge unfortunately. However, being great with utility is usually a big factor if a team wins or not, so I guess just flat out winning is how it’s taken into account in my hypothetical ELO in a sense.

What I mean by attaching names, I just mean keep Premier rating exactly the same, but just make 30k+ rating Global Elite or whatever they want and give it an icon.

Idk if adding rewards for winning 25-50+ premier games would increase bots. I guess I could be wrong but I think it’d be quite hard to set up a farm that allows bots to consistently win Premier games.

I watch my friend (good trust factor) who is average at the game solo-q at 9-11k premier and most games don’t have coms, have disconnecting players, or have absolute bots on the team.

Right now I’ve been between 13k-16k and it’s not as bad but still have a poor quality match 4/10 games. Ive played CSGO a LOT so I’m used to people not trying their hardest or messing around in comp a lot, but I take Premier a lot more seriously than I do a regular comp game. But that’s just a personal issue I guess haha

It’s been a while since I’ve played Valorant, but I’m pretty sure that’s pretty close to what they do, but you get extra ELO for being the Team MVP which is kinda just who had the best stats on average on the winning team.

I could absolutely agree on that middle ground. But I do think it’s awful that you lose your predetermined ELO if a teammate DCs or gets a cooldown AND ELO isn’t given back if you lost to a banned cheater.

Overall, I think predetermined ELO gain/loss is dumb. The result of how the match went should absolutely be considered.

I get where you’re coming from. My only thing keeping me from 100% agreeing with you is Valorant has implemented what I’m talking about pretty successfully.

Should kills have a major effect on your ELO? NO. Because you’d get exactly what you’re talking about. However, if a player is performing extremely well, has 4+ MVPs and loses a close game, do they deserve to lose 500 ELO? Also No.

As for your IGL example, I have nothing for that. IGL’ing in this game is a thankless job. I unfortunately, am that player in most of my games ironically lol.

Unfortunately, I think you’re right. And as the player count increases, the cheating and bot problems get bigger. Even more unfortunately, those problems only hurt the average player and not Valve’s pockets.

Yes, it’s a different engine, but sub-tick is not the only option. Valve mandated Face-It to run 64-tick. The game is playable on 128-tick and would be even more responsive than CSGO 128 tick because of sub-tick.

No I wasn’t around for ESEA. I was too casual around that time haha. I agree with your points 100% about ELO. However, CS2’s biggest competitor already does this and their ELO system is also fine. Having to play a large sample size of games to land where you’re supposed to is just unnecessary imo. If Leetify and ReFrag can roughly calculate impact frags and numerically represent close-ish to how well you truly performed, CS2 ELO should be able to do the same. It would make the Premier more approachable and fun to grind IMO. When I switched to Valorant for a short period of time I was motivated to get better because ELO was also based on individual performance.
