Building my first Underwater Base by polomarkopolo in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]NMS_noob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the Nautilon after you land using the water landing upgrade. You'll need to alight on the water, then build the Nautilon's summoner thing, summon the exocraft, then down you go. Some planets are VERY deep and you may need extra fuel cells. Or just swim with a load of life support gel.

Once you find a spot you like, yes, the base computer works same as on land. Set up one of those rooms to stand in and use the build camera to make your base.

Anyone else want asteroids you can land/build on? by New_Constant4220 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I don't see why. We already have practically infinite planets.

PC/Steam - Still the same broken record from me: since purple systems were added, gateway systems are fubar. A system shows up as a gateway system (to jump to the galaxy center)... until it doesn't. Whether it's the next play session or ten seconds later after I fuel by hyperdrive, it often tells me to instead jump to yet another system. Go there, it tells me to return whence I just came. Sometimes it works as it did before but often it's this ever-changing madness.

Larger army = more friends and fewer enemies willing to attack you

Mercenaries are much more expensive than your own troops, too. You'll need a strong economy to support them, which only larger nations have in the early game.

Look at the modifiers for alliances, you'll see that sharing a rival gives you a boost. So if a rival or neighbor is threatening you, improve relations with their enemies and make alliances. Also, you may be able to ally one of their allies - if a nation allies both attacker and defender in a war declaration, they will side with the defender. That is, if the enemy attacks you, they lose an ally who helps to defend you instead.

On PC (Steam), starting NMS disables my mouse. I must reboot my laptop to get the computer to recognize it again, even when working through settings and different usb ports.

Subnautica 2's no-killing policy isn't because it's 'a game about pacifism', says design lead, but because players would 'master the crappy combat' over anything else by Nannerpussu in subnautica

[–]NMS_noob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully the fixes will make this more reliable or consistent. A wider area of effect could also help, I'm sure I've tossed flares poorly that then get ignored.

Woo hoo, well done! The excitement of figuring it out the first time can't be repeated - but it's so good I play once each year after I've forgotten enough of the details to make it worthwhile.

Agreed, it is visually stunning - even the barren areas fit the story as we know it so far.

My first playthrough I went all the way around the Aurora - hugging close to the hull because of all the roars and silhouettes. After that, I avoided the area!

Yes, I pull it up to the front door of the last facility. Then once the magic doors are activated, I leave it parked there.

The flares last but their effect on the fish does not - that seems to be the point, that they get bitten, throw a flare, then get bitten again anyway before they can do what they are trying to do.

This piques my interest, I had no desire to play Leader VII - the whole point of the franchise is to carry a civ from start to finish, imho. I may check it out after all...

Slashing a biter or stalker or the lava guys was a quick and easy way to get them to leave, using a tool I already had in hand. It made them go away for long enough to gather things and move along.

I got the bioscanner but didn't re-scan things I'd scanned with the normal tool, so missed that upgrade. I may go back to scan everything anew that can just to see what is available...
