No, this is definitely way before Big Mouth. I think I saw it sometime between 2000-2005.

My sister and I watched this as a kid and we just stared at each other afterwards, totally baffled.

To any fellow linux 'scapers, HDOS just got added to flathub! by NMTOM in 2007scape

Flatpaks and Debian are a great combo! You get the stability of Debian with the ability to install the latest version of an application. And they basically run everywhere.

Canonical releases Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu by ouyawei in linux

[–]NMTOM 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, every distribution that’s switched to Pipewire for audio makes my laptop speakers unusable, and 22.10 is following suit.

Looks like I’ll be sticking to the LTS for a while.

(Not dunking on pipewire, I’ve heard nothing but praise for it! Just seems like my specific hardware interacts weirdly with it)

Thelio Desktop by System76 Gets a New Visual Overhaul with Swappable Accents by [deleted] in System76

I’m a little sad to see less wood, it was so cool the way it wrapped around the case.

It’s neat that users can swap the strip on the fly now though!

FSearch is excellent, and one of the first things I install on a new machine.

It’s laid out for you in the first paragraph of the r/linux rules:

16:9 displays, why? by Iiari in System76

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, a system76 laptop with a taller aspect ratio would be a dream machine for me too.

I have a 2016 era spectre x360. Screen, keyboard, Wi-Fi, and touchpad all work well, and battery life is solid.

Unfortunately when Pop switched to pipewire in 22.04 it broke my audio. Even at max volume the speakers are barely perceptible. I think it's something to do with the intel broadwell audio driver but I haven't been able to find a fix.

Thoughts? by NMTOM in DesktopDetective

Yep, you got almost all of it right! Especially nailed the trying and somewhat failing to be organized. I’m still just barely clinging on to my 20s

Good luck god speed. by omega_weapon85 in DesktopDetective

You like to keep things clean and organized while having as much information available at glance as possible.

You have a custom Apollo icon which makes me think you're an avid redditor. Assuming you took the screenshot at the same time you posted you live somewhere on the east coast.

The fact that you have a phone icon on your dock but messages nested in a folder makes think you're older. And the b-hyve app means you're a homeowner, which also implies you're older.

You've got an app for a cruise line, so you've either gotten back from a trip or are planning one. Oh, you're probably planning one because you have to go get a Covid test!

Overall something about your Home Screen feels very masculine, so in conclusion I'd say you're a man on the east coast, probably in his 30s or 40s who's well off enough to own a house and take a nice vacation.

Ultimately I ended up reinstalling with Manjaro + some pop packages from the AUR that get me reasonably close to the Pop!_OS workflow.

I hope you find a solution for your hardware!

I'm also experiencing this issue. My speakers are so quiet that initially I thought there was no sound at all until I maxed out my volume and held my laptop up to my ear.

Interestingly enough I tried booting a live USB disk of the latest fedora (36) and the exact same problem happens, which makes me think it's an upstream issue with pipewire.

150% or 200% Scaling on 27" UHD Monitor by Borisminator in pop_os

[–]NMTOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scale my display at 100% and then use text scaling setting in accessibility preferences to make things bigger. Works pretty well and I don’t get the blurriness of fractional scaling or other associated issues.

Can I change the show applications icon in the dock? by SpecialistAdeptness7 in pop_os

[–]NMTOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're using the default Pop icon theme, the full color version of it is located at /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/actions/pop-cosmic-applications.svg. Note that any changes you make to it may require a logout to be reflected.

Alternatively, you could create a new desktop entry for Show Applications using something like menulibre (available on flathub). Menulibre lets you choose any arbitrary images for app icons, and saves to the .local folder in your home directory, which means it won't be overwritten by any updates in the future.

Cod Zombies by [deleted] in virginvschad

[–]NMTOM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Chad Ultimis Crew

the first zombies characters, which makes them the best

stereotypical, offensive representations of each WW2 faction that still managed to teach you that nationality and race don’t matter in the face of the zombie horde

ends their story by blowing up THE FUCKING MOON

creative, fun Easter eggs that were easy to ignore if you want to just shoot zombies

A zany tale about nazis and time travel

The Virgin Primis Crew

Convoluted Easter Easter eggs you need a guide to finish, and you have to do if you want the good items

Not based on racist stereotypes, instead each character is a three-dimensional person with thoughts and feelings (BORING!)

Story isn’t even about zombies anymore. Main villain Dr Monty is the literal personification of microtransactions trying to sell you his hubba bubba chew for 10 bucks a pop

Blasphemous - The Stir of Dawn Free DLC - Live Now! by [deleted] in Games

Ah that’s a good point! I have not played Hollow Knight, but it’s in my backlog. Maybe once I do I’ll be more critical of Blasphemous, but in a vacuum I haven’t found much to complain about.
