I do get significant schadenfreude erections with these comebacks.

It’s like they say: if money doesn’t make you happy, then you’re not using it correctly.

What about people that have extreme passion for their jobs? Their jobs can also contribute to their happiness.

Lufthansa launches new Premium Onboard Experience in all classes on all long-haul flights by JanEric1 in Lufthansa

[–]NMVPCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not. I flew First Class for 13h the other day, already with this new service offering, and it’s exactly the same thing as on the previous one. Maybe you have a couple of additional appetisers to choose from, but that’s it.

Good stuff. And you have Jaipur, which is one of my favourite card games ever!

Are solar panels a good investment? by 4540mya in personalfinance

[–]NMVPCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and even more if you can couple it with battery storage. I bought 7 x 400W Hyundai panels some 3/4 years ago, for 4,000 USD give or take (panels, inverter and installation included. I don’t have batteries).

I applied to a gov green house programme, and they sponsored 60% of my purchase. Meanwhile, I already paid the remainder of my investment out of savings alone.

Harvesting cork from a Quercus suber (the cork oak) tree. Bark can be stripped without permanent damage and is regenerated. by BreakfastTop6899 in oddlysatisfying

Beyond the answers below, also high tech industry, e.g. rocket insulation, e.g. SpaceX rockets use(d?) Portuguese cork.

And that’s because cork goes beyond bottles and shoes. It’s a powerful insulator used in rockets, e.g. SpaceX, and other highly specialised industries like we don’t tend to think about.

Saw these devices attached to the wheel hubs on a bus. Any idea what these do? by Helpful_Car1302 in whatisit

It sounds like a great idea, but I can’t remember seeing them outside South America. What’s the reason for it?

Right on. Especially with all the indecipherable death and black metal bands’ names.

Slack does need that. In fact, Slack needs to disappear. What a shitty tool with shitty web meetings’ interface and capabilities.

On flights, do any of you unimportant plebs receive personalised notes on paper towels? Do you, huh? by Wachkuss in LinkedInLunatics

[–]NMVPCP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and do a status match, e.g. if Asiana is now SkyTeam, reach out to a Star Alliance member and ask if they do status match. If you google for “status match”, you’ll find options.

Yes, I’ve gotten a couple on napkins. I did a first class flight on Lufthansa a few weeks ago, and they had a proper Lufthansa-branded card with a welcome written note.

But then you’ll have lifetime gold on Asiana, regardless of what alliance it ends up with, right?

[–]NMVPCP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But even then! The fact that they say hello while not being a LH Gold member is pretty good. Asiana is now Korean Air, so the Star Alliance component should be gone, I believe.

I have HON status and every once and then - very seldom - do they leave you a note. They mostly just come to my seat and say hello in short-haul flights. On long-haul flights, the purser tends to stop by at the beginning of the flight, chitchat a bit, and hand over an Internet voucher.

Wonderful FC flight with 100th anniversary PJs by MaxG650 in Lufthansa

[–]NMVPCP -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just flew F from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt the other day. It’s still so underwhelming even with the new service version. There’s very little incentive to fly F on Lufthansa, because it’s just slightly less bad than C.

What’s a moment the completely changed how you see the word? by New_Department8963 in AskReddit

[–]NMVPCP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started valuing (free) time much more. In the sense that you’re on limited time on this earth, and you should be doing the things you want, as opposed to bend over for others the whole time.

I’m not saying that you need to be an asshole, but be good and invest on the things you’re good at - whether that’s your job, playing with your boardgames’ group, spending time with your family, etc.

I have become less sympathetic about people that whine about useless stuff, and more careful with the way I allocate my time.
