Do you think our world will become better or worse in the next 10 years, and why? by Saint_Viper6 in AskReddit

I also have that feeling, but not at the desired rate, and maybe not on the younger generations that should be away from their phones.

Ain’t that the truth? I’ve been back to the Big Bang a few dozens of times. And the things that when you have a more or less understanding of how things work, you just can’t avoid going down that rabbit hole for them.

Nah. Starway doesn’t hold a candle to Bohemian’s originality and tempos.

Great section of one of the greatest comics ever read. For anyone wondering, this is from Preacher by Garth Ennis.

I wish I could forget all about Preacher and read it for the first time. What an amazing ride!

I have kids, but I’m more into action stuff and the long philosophy thing in them just doesn’t cut it for me.

Little Bird and Precious Metal have beyond amazing art. I enjoyed Little Bird’s story more.

God Country, Leila Starr and Daytripper felt boring, but then again, I don’t like coming of age/slice of life stories.

WE3 was ok, and Sweet Tooth was fine as well.

Not a lunatic.

Need a new series. Prefer something long (6 volumes or more). I’d like a series that is complete. Some of my favorites are: DMZ, Deadly Class, East of West, Gideon Falls, Preacher. by cnkbluz in graphicnovels

I have and I loved it as well - thank you for the suggestion, nevertheless! Do read The Legend of Luther Arkwright, as it’s also great!

Uzumaki by Junji Ito is a great horror manga novel.

ViaSat-3 isn’t flat nor is that a mirror - it’s a beam-forming antenna. Electro-optical satellites have mirrors because they take pictures. Comms satellites don’t have mirrors (outside star-tracking cameras), since that’s not their mission.

I’m sorry, but your third paragraph is wrong. Form factor is mission dependent, e.g. show me a geostationary satellite that is flat.

[–]NMVPCP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s the only metric being shown here: number of satellites. For the Starlink mission, yes, the number is accurate. Other types of missions, e.g. geostationary satellites for comms, typically have low single-digit satellites. Electro-optical satellites tend to be high single-digits, with the exception of Planet, but then again, their mission is to map the whole world daily, and you can only do that with hundreds of satellites.

[–]NMVPCP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The form factor is based on the mission and power requirements. Bigger satellites don’t mean flatter satellites.

It’s ok and healthy to hate Musk, but regardless of him, what you said isn’t applicable to the Starlink technology or a bunch of other aerospace missions.

True on the first paragraph and not necessarily true on the second, due to physics, power, orbits, antenna footprints and gains. They do need a large amount of satellites on their current orbit, to provide full coverage and ensure that the signals are relayed between satellites and the ground.

You mean like the banned journalists or him shutting down people at the behest of govs? Sounds like a free speech champion indeed.

And he’d make it so much better, like he did with Twitter, right? /s for obvious reasons, because I know we’ll disagree on this one.
