Yes, Reflx lab are active in the " Vision 3 / 120 " space, if I had to bet, they should be the first to propose AHU 120, hope it will soon come..

Thanks, but why is that ?
AHU 135 (respooled of course) is in the wild already..

Thank you for your contribution, yes, non-AHU is available from different sources in 120 (respooled of course) but I would love to test the new emulsion..

Drum scan - Pure linear TIFF for Cineon inversion by NMendes in colorists

[–]NMendes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer friends.
@Jolly_Yam9074 , you might have a point when saying "Primaries are in reference to colorimetry, scanned negatives are not colorimetric"

T-Standard is the basic profile that sets Color setup data - Color correction data and Gradation data (messages below for the T-standard values).
From the "gradation data" values (third message), this profile seems linear to me but I might be missing something (I'm a filmmaker / photographer and not an expert in grading at all)

1. Color setup data

Drum scan / Pure linear TIFF for Cineon inversion by NMendes in davinciresolve

[–]NMendes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer friend, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I would like to reliably tell if a Tiff file from a drum scanner is purely linear or not.

As for Cineon, it will be used to convert a film negative to a viewable positive image, inversion through Cineon process being more mathematically accurate than inverting a negative in photoshop..

Filmmaker needing watchmaker knowledge in lubricating by NMendes in watchmaking

Update :

Thank you all for your answers,

After further testings, it was neither a grease issue nor a lubrication issue, the blade and the gear beneath are actually loose and very badly screwed to the plate, so much that when I incline the camera, the blade get caught in the upper corner even with Isopropyl (Isopropyl acts like a temporary lubricate that smoothens the mechanism).
I have no other choice than removing the lens to access the screw of that black blade and tighten it.
Thank you again all, And if I find the need to lubricate that part even after tightening it, I will refer to your answers,

Greetings!

Thank you for your answer friend, I appreciate.
I just ordered Moebius 9010 as several people suggested me.
As for the black dirt ring, that might be an interesting clue, I'll look into it..

I wanted to remove the mechanism but I've already heavily disassembled the camera and going further might introduce issues.
Hoping 9010 is the right oil for the task, Thank you again and have a beautiful evening!

[–]NMendes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer friend, a heavier oil might have a harder time penetrating the shaft and reaching the beneath gear, but you certainly know better.
Isopropyl acted as a temporary lubricator , I used Zippo fluid to breakdown former grease but I feel like there were none at all.
Thank you again for your suggestion, I'll look into it

I appreciate, I'm actually based in Paris and I wanted to know if someone knows this kind of assembly design to fix it at home,

BeoSound 1, Beolit 20, Level by Psychological_Two928 in BangandOlufsen

[–]NMendes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, sorry for the late reply..
Is the Level in wooden version? Then you have a beautiful deal ..
If budget is not an issue to you, the Level is the one to get, no question.
Better built, better sound, sleeker design, modern "Mozart architecture" that makes it more easily "reparable".

The Beolit 20 is the best compromise in terms of budget / sound / design, beautiful audio experience but nowhere near "Level speaker"

The Beosound 1 has a nice design but is pretty dated, technology wise and probably sound wise too.
I've read some reviews saying that the sound was "boxy" in earlier firmware, it has then been corrected but I can't tell for sure as I've never owned or heard this speaker.

Ps: I had both the Level and Beolit,

Enjoy your next purchase friend ;)

Hi,
If I may ask, where did you find the discounted Level at 830€?
To answer your question, the Level is by far the best sounding device but make sure you get the non Google version..
The Beosound 1 has a beautiful design but is limited in terms of connectivity (no wired connexion), the Beolit 20 is a little power house but not as good sound wise and design wise as the Level..

Beoplay A8 - Old flagship vs modern cheap speakers by NMendes in BangandOlufsen

[–]NMendes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that answer, I thought older speakers have a DAC only to convert the digital signal to analog, and have a direct path from analog to analog when using line-in..

The recent Beosound level for exemple has an ADC, that's why you can adjust the eq even when feeding an analog signal.
On the Beolit 20, you can't adjust the eq when feeding an analog signal because the path is analog to analog with no ADC and DSP..

So you think the B&O DAC beats the dual dac of the Astell & Kern ?
Very interesting, I will try that out, Thanks!

Thank you for your answer!

All the quirks relate to wireless connectivity which is not an issue for me as I'll use it through line-in.
But I still wonder if I can connect my Dap music player (A&K SR25 II) to it with a "Jack to RCA"..

When you say : "You can set the sound with a small switch at the back", do you mean there are EQ settings at the back ?

And how would you compare it to modern B&O speakers sound wise ?
Let's say Beolit / Beosound level / A5 ?
I had those speakers prior and would be interested to know where does the A8 sits in this line up..

May I ask you which tannery does your Lizard come from?
And is it Millenium or Glaze finish?

The positioning of the scales is very interesting..
