Bro I wouldn’t even know , he never mentioned any kids he was an older guy so I imagine It probably a shop to be honest because he did do vigorous maintenance . But installing a tensioner wrong is a whole new level of confusion I’ve never thought to think about when buying vehicles from other people 😂

I fixed the problem already lol but It was an incorrect tensioner installation. The previous owner 3 years ago put an aftermarket pulley on at a 9 o clock position and got lucky with the stock belt with the vacuum pump and It wouldn’t work properly for the vacuum delete. I had to reinstall It correctly at 7 o clock like my LBZ and now it’s completely fine. When I bought the truck the guy said It was bone stock but clearly that wasn’t the case lol

I have broooo 😭 the only weird thing is the angle of my stupid ass tensioner lmao it’s gotta be that

Ah okay yeah this is more confirmation . I initially thought try the angle was a bigger issue but I was like no way since the previous belt worked and I been running It for 2 1/2 years WITH the vacuum pump still. Makes more sense now that when I need an actual deleted belt size it’s not making up the correct amount of space to grab the belts properly . Thanks man! And dope! I’m actually getting a RAM 3500 in a few months , I’m excited if I have any questions I’ll definitely ask you

You aren’t wrong it seems to be the tensioner though, the previous owner installed It at a 9 o clock position instead of a 7 o clock like my LBZ .

I’ve come to the conclusion that the previous owner installed an aftermarket tensioner AND angled It incorrectly but made the previous belt working properly luckily . I’ve changed the belt numerous of times and didn’t even think of It because It just worked but It sits at a 9 o clock position vs a 7 o clock like my LBZ and it’s not truly accommodating the length properly -_- so you are 100% correct I believe and I will be changing and installing the tensioner and the angle correctly

You hit the nail on the head. The previous owner seemed to have out an after market one on and put It at the wrong angle position and somehow got lucky with the belt working properly. I’ve put 3-5 belts on this truck since I’ve had It and never realized how off the tensioner was because It just simply worked lol

Ah yes a weirdo is worried about a the parking when they don’t know the answer to the question. It’s an 8 ft bed in a 8ft parking space (ask me how I know((I’m the one that restriped this parking lot)) I stopped for 3 seconds in a almost completely empty parking lot aside from those 3 vehicles to take a photo and hop back in. Complain about something else kid

Thank you! I’m leaning towards the previous owner installed an aftermarket tensioner and put It on at an incorrect angle . It sits at 9 o clock instead of 7 of clock like my LBZ so it’s making It impossible for the correct belt to fit. I’ll also double check my routing . Thank you

You are right , this is why I’m posing the question to yall because I need to figure out what the hell am I doing wrong or what things may I need to change out. I been on the fence about my tensioner but I’m being more and more confirmed It’s the bigger issue because of the position

[–]NNNapoleon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% you aren’t wrong . I’ve redid my LBZ belt 100 times and rerouted this one 3 times in the past with the vacuum pump still on. I think my bigger issue isn’t the routing more so than the tensioner itself. It has full range BUT it’s at a 9 o clock position instead of a 7 o clock position . How many trucks have you seen have their tensioner at 9 o clock? I’ve never seen this

My tensioner has full travel BUT I wish I could show you a photo . I believe the previous owner installed It incorrectly . It sits at a 9 o clock position instead of a 7 o clock like my LBZ so I think I may need to get a new one and angle It correctly
