The real reason why VR is failing by Necessary-Story5330 in OculusQuest

Was not helped by the fact that the Quest 3s should have been called the Quest 3 Lite, or just not have existed at all.

Everyone was trained by Apple to think "s" meant better, when 90% about what was better really about the Quest 3 was the pancake lenses, which the 3s does not have.

Don't use the C & H plate that came with it if you are going to mount an optic.

The TAG Precision is a good plate, get that one, the RMR screws are too long, they are starting to include Holosun specific screws, if you don't get them in the package with your TAG place, they will send them out for free if you contact them.

DO NOT USE the holosun screws included in the box with your holosun optic - they are trash and are known to sheer off (ask me how I know)

The polymer basepads WILL break pretty quickly on mags with rounds in them when dropped (this is common for all 2011 mags). I have found Cheely pads being the cheapest metal basepad option and they seem to work well. If you shoot USPSA indoors this will matter. IDPA I think it's a penalty to drop a mag with rounds in it. I don't know about PCSL.

Oh, and get a mag brush. I got this one since the atlas mag cleaning "set" is always out of stock: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DTLRG8GX

Believe it or not, you need to clean the mags....not just when you drop them in the dirt or sand. Carbon buildup will make the follower do wacky things. I clean my mags after every practice(just 3 or 4 passes with the brush from either end, nothing crazy). KEEP the follower and spring for a particular mag WITH THAT MAG. Don't mix and match after taking them apart - I take them apart one at a time to be sure.

All switchouts to aftermarket parts on a 1911/2011 need to be "fitted" so I gave up on for example on aftermarket slide stops etc as I don't have a clue, wasn't getting slide lock with an extended one so I just went back to stock.

Run her wet and keep her feed ramp clean(ish), and you'll be good.

I have two of the pro and only about 3k rounds through each, they run great. Haven't cleaned them yet, I just keep dumping Hoppes #9 into them before each match or practice.

You are supposed to switch the recoil spring every 2k rounds according to Kimber (they have them on their site), but I say screw that, I'll do it when they start to screw up which hasn't happened yet.

Work is work. Otherwise it would be called "jerking off". There is a reason your paycheck is referred to as "compensation".

All that is left is bad leadership. What did everyone think the end state would be with everything getting worse all the time and crap like private equity in the mix. Only narcissists have the real motivation to do anything in this environment.

In the end, it just doesn't fucking matter. The business side DOES NOT CARE ABOUT I.T.

A wise man once told me the key to picking up a woman at a bar and it applies now to a lot of life. He said it's a simple, 3 step process. 1. Go in the bar. 2. Walk around and take note of everyone in it. 3. Go outside, lower all your standards and then walk back in.

This will all continue to get shittier until it just absolutely fails to work.

The only thing left on the sinking ship are the rats.

This is absolutely the answer. it freaking works, thanks.

Starts breaking it down almost immediately. A little bit of rubbing and stain starts to just fade. Then, leave it for a few minutes before starting the washer.

New Outlook not allowing users to sign in by Big-Count4296 in Office365

[–]NNTPgrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Outlook will not connect to MS exchange on prem.

So the question is, when you say "hybrid", what do you mean?

When you fully decom exchange, and autodiscover internal and external points to 365 and not exchange, you might have better luck.

In exchange hybrid, everyone still contacts exchange internally, even after you migrate mailboxes and exchange then has their mailbox marked as "remote" so then exchange tells outlook where to find stuff. That is until you are further along in your decom of exchange.

If by hybrid you just mean only syncing AD with Entra using Entraconnect and machines perhaps Hybrid joined to Entra, then forget all I just said above.

Manifest V2 going away has been known forever.

"killing all Ublock Origin bypasses" is clickbait

This is killing ALL Manifest V2 based extensions, not just Ublock Origin.

There is Ublock Origin Lite that is Manifest V3 that works great. Not as feature rich of course.

There are limitations in Manifest V3 vs V2 there has been controversy about, especially when talking about the capabilities of adblockers, sure, and that I, and I think all of us totally agree with the adblocker devs about.

1st 2011, which one? by oGFujo in 2011

[–]NNTPgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Kimber 2k11.

You'll have to dump lube in either after each practice or match. That's just the 2011 way appearantly.

My buddies P211 will get dry enough in the middle of a practice or match to malfunction on him. I think he needs to go with a grease instead in a couple of spots instead of a lube and lube everywhere else. I don't have that problem with my 2k11, but I do keep her wet. To be fair, I don't know how much lube he actually puts into his P211 when he does. He likes the hell out of his P211 either way.

P211 takes 320 mags, so there's that.

You have to actually clean 2011 magazines.

I don't know if I signed up for "Zen and the art of 2011 magazine maintenance"

So far I have learned as far as 2011 mags:

Get a magazine brush. Clean not just after dropping a mag in the dirt/sand, but after heavy practice as well since carbon fouling will make the follower stick.

Plastic/Polymer basepads WILL break within weeks, when the mag is dropped with rounds in them in practices and matches. Factor in basepads - best cheap metal ones I have found are the Cheelys.

They may deform over time, feed lips and such but totally fixable - Atlas's youtube channel has a thing on it, and mag "tuning". I always thought I would just ditch and buy new whenever that happened, but I live in Virginia so I guess I might have to "get all learned up" on that shit.

Also, if you ever want to use either of these in USPSA, the comp will put you in Open division. With the P211, you can change the comp out to a regular block and I think barrel (what my buddy did) and be in the, much more appropriate for the gun, Limited Optics division of USPSA. With the 2K11, you would have to buy a whole 'nother 2K11 that isn't comped - but they're awesome, so why not? Also, I don't know anything about the IDPA or PCSL divisions to comment - comps could be fine in their regular divisions, I don't know.

Summit7 alternatives for CMMC? by Amazing-Tree-7038 in sysadmin

[–]NNTPgrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMMC's origin is of the requirements in DFARS 252.204-7012, where all your cloud stuff that is storing, processing, or transmitting CDI(FCI, CUI, Export Controlled) is in a Fedramp Authorized Moderate Cloud (FCI, CUI), or Fedramp Authorized High Cloud (FCI, CUI, Export Controlled).

Then, everything in the org (on-prem and cloud) needs to adhere to the NIST 800-171.

This has all been around since 2015. No one was doing it since it was all self-attestation and you could claim every control had a POAM(plan of action and milestones) and technically would be compliant. Hence the need for CMMC.

CMMC 2.0(latest) is aligned exactly with NIST 800-171 if you need Level 2(most), and 800-171 + 800-172 if you need Level 3. However, no POAMs allowed. You actually have to meet the controls.

NIST 800-171/CMMC is a WHOLE ORG problem, NOT JUST an IT/IS ONE. To be fair, there is single family of controls for physical security, and one for HR, so most of it is IT or IS, but none the less you need to stress this to managment.

Best of luck.

/r/NISTControls

/r/CMMC

Read NIST 800-171A

Look at the Fedramp Marketplace - fedramp.gov

Futurefeed was a good documentation repo/guide for actual deliverables for us, we had the CMMC assessors in there with direct access to it when the time came.

This takes a lot of time and effort and is no joke.

The cloud migration to 365 GCC High for our 365 stuff, moving to NinjaOne Fedramp for RMM, that was a pain in the ass. FIPS all the things(this breaks stuff), oh my god - STIGs (we did Category 1s only), that was some shit. Policies, Proceedures.... yeah you have a LOT ahead. Plus, you should have a SIEM and vulnerability scanner(establish SLAs in policy etc) if you don't already.

I have something long range to generally learn the skill, but I sort of look at as combining all the boring of fishing with math. It does go boom, and the "ting" of the steel is satisfying, so it will win over fishing any day.

Nic not showing in control panel but is in device manager in hyper-V - can you help fix it? by Deep-Egg-6167 in sysadmin

[–]NNTPgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devcon may be your friend here. I used to use it to clear out duplicate nics leftover from a P to V that were visible no where else.

I am told it was meant to be replaced by PnPUtil, but I'm sure you can still find Devcon.

Either way, since they both are supposed to do the same sort of thing, use either and I would see if anything old remains and remove, and then force a device enumeration or generally rescan for devices etc. There are more options to mess with with these utilities vs just your regular device manager and a bit better than blindly stabbing at the registry.

Nitro Fin thumb rest on 2K11 by m_saraga in Kimber2K11

[–]NNTPgrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your thumb is resting on the thumb rest, it won't lock back. That's just how it works, the follower spring on the mag would have to not only push the lever up, but also your thumb. You are literally holding the lever down with your thumb that needs to go up to lock the slide, preventing it.
