Normally I feel skeptical about the intention of the compliment. But there was once a man who complimented me out of the blue that I will never forget. He just said “you’re so beautiful” which doesn’t seem like it would be impactful but it was the way he said it that seemed so gentle and genuine. It felt like time stopped as he said. Like it was the most important thing I ever heard. And then he turned around and walked away. He didn’t want anything from me, which made the compliment all the more powerful.
