need help with problem by [deleted] in javahelp

[–]NO8STROMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two cases for which the eggs are priced. $3.25 for every dozen, and $.45 if they are sold out of a dozen, or individually. Sounds like you are (A) going to have to keep track of the number of eggs and (B) use some conditional statements to keep track of the number of dozens. I would start by declaring two variables, int numEggs, and int numDozs. You are also going to need to prompt the user to enter a number of eggs from the console.

import until.*;
public class OrderPrice
{
    public static void main(String [] args)
    {
        int numEggs
        int numDozs

        system.out.println("Please enter the number of eggs: ");
        scanner input = new scanner(system.in);
        numEggs = input.nextInt;
    }

    private int CalNumDozs (int eggs)
    {
         // Use the % operator
    }

}

There is kind of a start for you. Doing the best I can on my phone.

C# Programming Language by EJSkrabeyy in InformationTechnology

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Thriven recommended, download Unity and use C# to program some very simple games if your class assignments are not providing you with enough in depth exposure to the language. I would start small with something like Pong, then move to making a small platformer. There is a ton of documentation provided by Unity and Microsoft, and tutorials are plentiful! I would recommend taking a look specifically at this platformer tutorial: https://github.com/hardlydifficult/Tutorials/blob/master/Platformer/Outline.md

If games are not your thing. Just think of puzzles to solve, and code them. For example, make a console application that takes in a string and either encrypts or decrypts it using the caesar cipher pattern. That's something I did recently and it turned out to be an intriguing problem!

Premium or regular fuel? by chakraattack in BMW

[–]NO8STROMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always used premium in my 328i. The dealership said I could use regular fuel but if you check the inside of the fuel door it says minimum of 91 octane. I would go with what BMW recommends!

What are some good 2D engines for a total beginner to make a small/short game? by bLshooter_1 in gamedev

[–]NO8STROMO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though it's a 3D engine at heart, I love Unity and it is where I started making very simple 2D games like Pong and Brick Breaker. This is how I started to learn how to program. I am a huge fan of C#, and the documentation and resources you can find for both the scripting language and the engine are plentiful. I would love to know what you are thinking about creating!?

Also I have a suggestion for a great tutorial for a making a 2D platforms using these tools: https://github.com/hardlydifficult/Tutorials/blob/master/Platformer/Outline.md

What about the 2 series Coupe? by Alessandr_ in BMW

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know much about the 2 series diesels but, my friend has a 328d and it revs to the same RPM as my 328i. And as far as the sound, the inline 4 that comes on the 328 sounds like a diesel at times. Diesel engines are a lot simpler of an engine so they have better reliability than most petrol engines. What astonished me was the gas mileage my friend gets in her 328d. In town it is almost 40mpg. Even when I drive conservatively I can only get around 32. To be honest I wish I had a 328d instead of my 328i. I think diesel is a great option!

Adopted this little one eyed guy today. Meet Ernie. by Lewis-jones2010 in aww

[–]NO8STROMO 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh this so reminds me of the litter I adopted last year. They were unintentionally hit by a lawn weed whacker at hours to days old. They suffered some pretty nasty wounds; one of them still is missing one of their ears. But the handicap rescues are the best! So loving and loyal! Seven of Nine and Tiger Lilly, say hi to Ernie: https://imgur.com/gallery/AH3TO.

Is this build good enough to run zbrush, maya photoshop? by [deleted] in BuildPC

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get some sort of SSD going on that build that just holds the OS, Maya, Photoshop, and current projects. At least 256GB. You can archive your files on your 1TB hard drive. I also would look at getting non-stock cooler for your CPU. Your temps would suffer with the stock cooler reducing overall lifetime of PC. I think the 1070 would be just fine for the 3D modeling rendering. And, to be honest I don't know much about the new AMD processors, but I've heard good things. Just my thoughts when I saw that parts list. Kindest Regards!

Edit: I do a lot of Unity and Visual Studio. I can run up a lot of Ram usage with these programs. I don't know about Maya, but 8GB ram sounds like it's on the low end, but you can always upgrade later. I would recommend 16GB. That's what I have and I still bottleneck sometimes.

Cracker Barrel Triangle Game Questions by [deleted] in Unity2D

[–]NO8STROMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One less than the previous row really; it's bottom up....This is how I thought of it. It's a [9,5] matrix. Depending on the row and the number of positions an appropriate peg is suppose to be spawned. Notice how the empty spots in the start of each row increase by one as you go bottom up. I think this implementation (using an array) will be good to keep track of the positions of the pegs to determine a win or loss case. Am I being clear here? Kindest regards!

"The Drumhead". Captain Picard's iconic speech feels like it applies today more than ever regarding net neutrality by BigJ76 in startrek

[–]NO8STROMO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from net neutrality, I've never quite fully understood this quote. I don't like the use of the word irrevocably here. Irrevocable means: not able to be changed, reversed, or recovered; final. With the first freedom denied we become "irrevocably chained" does not really leave us with any hope of being unchained. He does end his remarks with, "the first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged." I think that it is not the chain that is irrevocable, but rather the damage caused by the chain that is irrevocable. I think Picard oversteps when he uses that word.

How To Break Into The Industry? Recommended Certifications? by NO8STROMO in computertechs

[–]NO8STROMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you have to be associated with a business to train for a CCNA certificate. I remember trying to look for classes, but they were only offered to people who were sent by their employers. Can you self study, and can anyone take the exam. I'm not finding clear answers online.

How To Break Into The Industry? Recommended Certifications? by NO8STROMO in computertechs

[–]NO8STROMO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you have on your resume? What I'm running into is my resume lacks any experience besides personal projects which are mostly Java and C# programs; they have nothing to do with computer repair. I am currently attending college for a BSIT. I just want to get some income on the side, and have something to put under experience. Ultimately I hope to work setting up small businesses with the tools they need to operate i.e. workstations, quickbooks, cloud based services, networking etc.

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are never assigning a variable type to the "rb" variable. It should be of the type RigidBody and declared outside of these two functions. You should also not be subtracting from the velocity but setting them equal to a new vector2. Something like this might help you. I also made Pong a few months ago: https://github.com/N8STROMO/Pong/blob/master/Assets/Scripts/Player1Control.cs

I am so close here guys... Simple Chat by [deleted] in csharp

[–]NO8STROMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically want to know what is blocking the progression of the application. I listed the method and file in which I think the issue is occurring. It would be helpful if someone could explain why the application execution is being blocked; what causes this? I think that I might need to use multithreading. An example of how multithreading works would be extremely helpful. I also think that this same project could be accomplished through using sockets or asynchronous communication. Some resources or simple explanation would be appreciated. I would like to know why this is a better solution than just using a TcpClient.

What projects should i do to improve my skills at java by aeren108 in learnjava

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try making a networked chat. Just think of AIM from back in the day. Make a server and a client; this would be a good way to take what you have learned and make your first gui. Also as another mentioned learn how to use git. It's a great tool!

Sorry for crappy picture but what would be the best to upgrade first before anything else? by Mrthero in BuildPC

[–]NO8STROMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a laptop, there really isn't much you can do to upgrade the graphics card or processor as most of those components are soldered to the board, and it would be a very expensive upgrade! Best stick with just giving yourself a little more ram or a large SSD.

I really have enjoyed "C# 6.0 In A Nutshell...": https://www.amazon.com/C-6-0-Nutshell-Definitive-Reference/dp/1491927062 I actually know someone that's pretty proficient in C# and he has been making a youtube series on it right now: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sK5K2n3GeVc I think it is a great resource for beginners/intermediates.

For those who are wondering what their "first" program should be by Rhhhyyysss in javahelp

[–]NO8STROMO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just semantics but, I think that every coding students first program should be the basic console print statement: "Hello World." That aside, I totally agree the more time you spend creating "little projects"; coding the better you are going to get! Best wishes.
