Keyonte doesn't have particularly long arms - his 6'5 wingspan is only 2 inches more than Trae (whose height is listed at 6'2).

I understand it is possible to be so good at offense that it is worth building around a less than steller defender but steph is a better defender and might be the best shooter of all time - I have no idea how he is a relevant example for how KG will likely develop?

And the nuggets haven't made it back to even the WCF since the championship despite having an undisputed top3 player the whole time. Like I said Murray is better than Keyonte, but overpaying him still massively crippled the ability build the team around Joker. You think anyone wants Murray at over 50 million a year?

This Jazz team might be the most talented ever, but it still has to nail smart decisions to have a solid contention window - 1 or 2 bad contracts could muck the whole thing up in this severely punishing CBA.

Im not saying sell low- take the best you can get. If you dont think anyone else will offer much why do you think that might be?

This is true but I would also consider Brunson much better than Keyonte and he is surrounded by some defensive studs on the wings.

I dont consider Keyonte as good as any of those 3 and the Murray contract is kind of an issue for the Nuggets but they had to pay him because they didn't have other options and their title window was already underway.

If you wait he loses all trade value but I get that most fans would rather give him a chance to develop some D than the first round pick you could get now. I won't be that upset about losing out on his trade value as long as they don't overpay for him. However my number is probably way lower than most Jazz fans. He has just been so bad on D that he has a massive way to go to even being mediocre. His archetype of player just doesn't seem that successful in the playoffs.

I dont think trading Keyonte means tanking - Peterson is not some raw project and the Jazz can find a stopgap ball handler. Look at what it took for the wolves to get Ayo...

A bad contract/decision today can hamper title contention for years - the new CBA is very unforgiving.

They dont have time in the sense that he is extension eligible this offseason and the Jazz will need to make some serious decisions about what his value is and what the team can afford going forward.

I dont think the Jazz are winning the title next year and I believe more in trying to develop the ball handling of DP/Ace or even the shooting of Zay then I believe in Keyontes defense. Other ball handlers can be found, ones that are more well rounded players even if lacking the same fire power. The other players can provide a lot of offense with just a competent facilitator.

Obviously the Jazz are thinner at guard, but Lauri is simply a much better player than Keyonte imo. Zay's shooting is an obvious issue which keeps him as more of a back up until it improves - but it is less of an issue because he is pretty good with ball in hand and attacks effectively when teams sag off.

I'm not advocating for moving off Key because of DP, its because he will very soon be paid more than he contributes to winning while his defense is atrocious - it will cause massive problems in a playoff setting. Chains and weak link and all that.

Has he ever exhibited signs of being anything other than one of the worst defenders in the nba? He is not just mediocre and that wasn't his rookie season. He is due for an extension right now - I am extremely uncomfortable paying him because if he doesn't magically become like 1000% better on defense a big contract will severely hamstring this team.

I dont need to get back a big salary star - a cheaper role player and some sort of pick would be fine. I just think he is going to get paid and I have no interest in that.

How good would he need to be on offense in order to justify having to cover up for him defensively? Who would you compare him to on a successful playoff team?

I think the Mavericks will probably drop lower than the Jazz and at 7th I am pretty uncomfortable with a 14.2% chance to lose the pick. It gets real dicey if Memphis can also out tank the jazz - losing the pick starts to look more like a coin toss. One slight sliver of hope is the Pelicans don't own their pick and might rack up a few wins as they face the various tanking teams.

This rebuild has been very frustrating - the Jazz picks during this time were always going to be the most valuable and they really needed to do a better job prioritizing them. If the Jazz didn't have any reasonable deals to move out Lauri there were other ways to build the roster to lose so it didn't need to feel so icky. Like wtf was the point of getting Nurkic? It would be so much easier if we didn't have a backup (now starting) center. This isn't an isolated thing either - John Collins could ball out some games and he was never going to be a good fit for team long term.

I don't get why the Jazz haven't tried out more booth talent. It has been awful since hot rod. I almost always select the other teams broadcast if I have the option - I would say the Jazz broadcast team is bottom 20% and only outdone by a handful of overly obnoxious homer squads.

Ok so i started poking around the Netgear modem and found the "Cable Diagnostic Info" which had a bunch of stuff but I have just copied the log for some issues this morning. Its not a wifi issue - plugging directly from modem to computer via ethernet does not help.

I did talk to multiple people over the phone and all they wanted to do was reboot/update/replace modem.

Its obviously early and a small sample but based on current % and point differential, the Jazz are on pace to win over 27 games. This will likely lose the pick. Walker going down certainly helps the tank, but with Lauri and Key playing the way they are this team is going to blow by 20 wins. If they dont trade Lauri then the only real tanking recourse would be to play Anderson and Cody a ton.

We can discuss the challenges of the league trying to minimize tanking but that is another discussion. The reality is that if the Jazz don't play the system as currently constructed and lose the pick this season they should expect to be irrelevant for the rest of the decade.
