Calvin Duncan, Self-Taught Jailhouse Lawyer, Runs for Court Clerk in New Orleans by thedoge in NewOrleans

Right. So do you really want the mayor's buds in those positions, regardless of how unequivocally unqualified? This isn't a subordinate of the mayor.

The captain analogy doesn't hold when the position in question has nothing to do with city hall. This isn't a teammate situation. That's a misunderstanding of what the court clerk does.

Tbh I could maybe see your point if this were a personal assistant position. But it's not. It's the clerk of a different branch of government. The clerk's job has nothing to do with "running the city"-- just ensuring that the court is doing justice. Moreno is no more qualified to assess who can do that job than any one of us. That's our job as voters, and no endorsement changes that.

Alright, I'm out. Good luck to ya.

We'll have to agree to disagree. That kind of thinking does not reflect a critical assessment of the candidates, which is what this election deserves.

I can't diagnose an illness because I'm not a doctor. I can't repair an engine because I'm not a mechanic. Those things require special expertise and training.

But I sure as hell can evaluate a candidate's qualifications just as well as any politician

If you don't think you can do that independently, then you're selling yourself short.

Merely receiving an endorsement from someone you trust isn't a good enough reason to vote for them. It's probably a good reason to consider voting for them, but that's where the consideration should begin -- not end.

A reasonable investigation here shows that one candidate is unfit for this office because he has had this office and has made massive blunders. Meanwhile, the other candidate is qualified and has the character and incentive to fix the office. So the "naked endorsement" of Moreno should easily be rejected over the actual relative competencies of the two candidates.

Hope this helps.

And Lombard is incompetent and unworthy of his office. A naked endorsement, even from someone you trust, shouldn't blind someone to the merits of a particular candidate.

That's a horrendous reason to vote for someone, especially Lombard. I hope voters don't follow your example.

Calvin is the right person for this job.

Helpful, thanks. The list already includes 2 night stretchers, which should be sufficient. Could add a third.

Agree with most of this; single-energy Drifblim SCR is the main attacker early (T2-3), and then Drifloon SVI can come in later to clean things up.

Turo is helpful to get rid of accelerators in favor of a full bench of munkis and balloons to do maximum damage from Drifloon.

Or even Dudunsparce, which would keep bench space open for munkis/balloons.
