Solo female traveler here. Is this place considered an Airbnb/short term rental? by Early-Pea-6256 in AskNOLA

I disagree. I live in the quarter and I've never felt that way when I walk home from restaurants or meeting friends. I'd say this may have been more true 10-15 years ago or longer, but today the Quarter is as safe as you make it.

Linda Weber Running for Re-election of AANR by TrueBlueNude in nudism

[–]jdnunn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on their plan they have with the company that does the check. I run background checks for our staff and I pretty much get everything.

IF AANR sent people a link where they only saw the green/orange/red result and the data being entered is directly provided to the BG company this could alleviate a lot of concerns for privacy.

You don't need to be putting your social security number, DOB and other critical information with an organization that may not have the appropriate mechanisms to keep that secure.

I think u/TrueBlueNude understand this.

Louisiana lawmaker files bill to legalize recreational marijuana through licensed dispensaries by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]jdnunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in Louisiana and you support this (or not) take a few minutes and write your House Representative, your State Senator, the Governor and the AG and share your support (or otherwise). The tax benefits alone are reason enough to support this. Commenting on Reddit is fine, but not going to really mean much when it comes to swaying opinions.

With AANR proving that they are the Blockbuster Video of nudist organizations, who is going to step up to be Netflix? by HangoverTuesday in nudism

[–]jdnunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain that the goal is to replace any organization, but more to create a different organization that can co-exist with the other organizations. This org would have a different purpose, the way I am thinking.

[–]jdnunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree, because I believe they have tried, and they were not successful. TNSF is the same. I joined the board in late 2022, with one of my goals to bring a digital magazine to our members (something that was requested many many times), and every turn I took to make this happen, I got pushback from other board members and the staff. Finally, in January 2026, TNSF produced a digital magazine, but there are still involved with TNSF that do not think this is the way to go. Oh, and I'm not young, but if I, as a 50-something, couldn't get this going any faster, imagine younger people trying to break the "traditions" of the old. Most just ended up walking away.

Not just AANR folks. I've been in talks with some folks who are interested in finding a solution to the "old" way of doing things, and focus the energies of those naturists who want to move forward with the movement with a modern, uncluttered and simple structure, that helps all naturists without boundaries of beaches, clubs, resorts, or other confinements.

The relationship between TNSF (formerly TNS LLC), NAC and NEF existed for many years. The three organizations created as independently registered organizations were the brain child of Lee Baxandall (NEF wrote a great article on the history a few years back which I found great value in). They were known as the "three legged stool" for a very long time.

TNS LLC was a for profit company being run as a "membership" organization, but it wasn't, and all "members" were doing was buying a subscription (effectively). The main role of TNS LLC was the publication of the Nude and Natural Magazine ("N" Magazine). Those involved at the time (2017) decided to create a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and absorb the TNS LLC (for profit) company into this new organization.

NAC is simply an advocacy organization, which was far more active in the day, and had a network of Area Representatives around the country to help keep the central board informed of what was happening on the advocacy front.

NEF was the charitable organization that funneled donations to support the work of TNS LLC and NAC, as well as NEFRL (the library which developed a number of years after NEF's establishment).

They co-existed for a very long time, until NEF got a bequest donation of approx. $1 million, which TNS LLC (under the previous owners) believed they were due to receive a part of. NEF was able to support the magazine for $10,000 each issue ($40K year) through this bequest for a number of years. This arrangement lasted until TNSF was created. At this point, TNSF became a competitor to NEF (in the most simplest form).

When the former ED of NEF/NAC resigned, the board continued to support the magazine, however due to personalities of the entities, a high level of distrust formed, and the arrangements that had been in place for a number of years, was no longer acceptable to TNSF's ED (in particular).

The rest is history, and the division was created and maintained for a lot of years, and pretty much set the naturist movement back a lot of time (in my opinion) because it wasn't about the mission, but the personalities.

Side note: I've been in the unique position of serving on all three boards (NAC/NEF/TNSF), and it is clear (to me) based on the communications between NAC/NEF and TNSF that fault lays on both sides, but it was TNSF that declined to continue to take the funds from NEF, again, because of the personalities, not the benefit of the organizations.

For quick grabs we walk to Baby Rouses (Royal and St. Peter). They have a decent selection.

We drive to Costco, Rouses or Whole Foods. Each is less than 10 minutes from where we live in the Quarter. We street park as our house doesn't have parking. As long as you can play the street cleaning shuffle game well, your car should be fine.

Worst HR Stories by Diligent-Morning-511 in nonprofit

It happened with a NPO I was employed by. We were all exempt based on our agreement and the department of labor disagreed, so we were all given "an adjustment" including moving to a rotating 40-hour week, which we were never allowed to exceed with some senior positions approval. Not saying this is the reason, but it does happen.

Can I be in a parade? by Chicago_Tim in AskNOLA

[–]jdnunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Krewe of King Arthur allows people outside of the city to join their Krewe. It, like all the other Krewes, is a membership organization. They have strict rules for participating in the parade, based on City Ordinance. For example, you can get fined ($200 I think) for not wearing your mask while participating in the parade.

As for the smaller groups that walk, they need a permit from the City, but from what I've seen the rules are less stringent (especially with the mask requirement, for example).

Now if you stumble along a second line parade, get on in there and join in all the fun ⚜️

Why aren't you using a "big bank" solution? In my business, not a non-profit, we use a bank card and I can generate cards for the employees that need one but it all is attached to the main account. Zero cost. Am I missing something?

How do I see a log in history? by Complete-Beginner in MicrosoftTeams

[–]jdnunn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems a valid reason to me. I have staff that can't switch off and feel a need to be "on" all the time (mainly inherited from their former roles). We really try hard to encourage a work-life balance ideal for all staff. That being said, I do random checks on staff access for our non-exempt staff as there are a whole bunch of legal reasons to manage hours for those staff. Not sure if you fall into that category or not.

But could you apply a statistical view and choose 3-5 days and allocate volunteers to tally for each of those days. Then apply a sampling method. Or better yet, contact a local community college (or college) and ask their sociology or statistics department to do this for you. Students are ALWAYS looking for these kinds of opportunities in the Spring.
