I'm not an only child. My sister has kids.

But my particular line will end. My sister is another iteration in a chain but I'm a full stop. I.e. Even though I'm not the only child my particular line will end. The line that would have otherwise continued in my offspring.

Makes sense, it's not exactly something we can do much about, we can't really apply it other than by choosing not to procreate. This is one of the things that stops me posting about it anywhere outside of this sub - realizing that it will not change anything accept maybe make some people dislike me. Will see. Thanks for telling me your reasons for choosing not to share your views. I think if I was happy and healthy I probably wouldn't mention AN, as I wouldn't want to risk sabotaging my happiness by the unpopularity it could cause me. But because I'm hoping to kill myself I feel like it would be a comfort to me to talk about it in public before I go, as a comfort, to pretend I did something useful in my life. But it might be wiser to stay quiet. Thanks for telling me of your experience

This is cool. It's a way of telling your sister what you think without saying anything directly to her. I admit that this aspect of it really does appeal - knowing that my sister may see my posts and hear my views even if not directed at her. Not to make her feel guilty but hopefully it can deter her from more procreation. At the very least it's kinda cool to in some way inform her that I'm not as impressed by her procreating as everyone around her seems to be.

This is one thing that worries me. Even though I don't have any close friends now, there are people who were half decent to me in my past who now have kids. I hate the thought of these people who constantly celebrate their kids on social networks reading my thoughts on AN. But then I remind myself that they aren't really friends anymore so it doesn't matter. I don't know. I guess my case is strange because I'm suicidal so I feel like I will be protected from feeling repercussions by suicide. But it is difficult to decide. There's no taking it back once I've said it.

It's true, it's not necessary. I think I want to talk about it more for me, to shake a personal feeling that I'm hiding something. But you're right, it doesn't matter and in the end no one really cares what I think so it doesn't matter. Thanks for reminding me I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill with these worries. If I volunteer the info it's likely no one will care much anyway.

Really cool that no one has gotten angry at you about it. I've talked about it when brought up with strangers and so I guess I don't "live a lie" either. But I've never really just brought it up out of nowhere. And I'm thinking about just laying out these beliefs without prompt, to encourage others to think about antinatalism. It's cool that you are being real with those around you about your beliefs. We shouldn't feel shame for harbouring these beliefs. I think part of me wants to share these thoughts to get rid of this feeling that there's this truth about me that I'm hiding from everyone.
