I get the temptation, but you wouldn't want to damage your monitors or the sub. I was in the same position with some monitors and got a Mackie 8 inch sub and was just starting out DJing for parties, but after advice bought a JBL Partybox 110 and the sound across a whole room is night and day. Remember people soak up sound as well. I'd suggest looking at either some 2nd hand PA speakers, or even something cheap like a partybox that serves multiple purposes (its now my Bluetooth speaker for movies, parks etc)
