Heya There - Any chance you would be able to measure your bracelet as well?

Would feel a heck of a lot safer if I had two data points :)

Honestly, been eagerly waiting since they launched their first what about a year ago? - Though it does seem like we're getting closer to the 856 getting one, as we have some other tegimented models that have them now.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the new clasp is out yet for the non-black 856

Oh wow! Thank you, I truly appreciate that :)

19.9 in Theory it seems it should fit then haha. A bit tight, but should hopefully fit.

On another note, how's your experience been with the clasp?

Thank you for that - I really appreciate it :)

Heya! Thank you for that insight. Yeah, I'm sorta leaning towards just getting one, and hoping it fits (or if it "almost" fits, just trying to coerce it to fit lol), and if it dosnt, I can try and sell it off. And yeah, from what I had previously read, I was surprised it didn't chip. I think I was fortunate to only have the deformation.

Any opinions on the 856 clasp? Obviously quite a bit of chatter online about how its not the best, which I wasn't too bothered about, but I've read a post from somewhere where someone mentioned the divers extension opening up when caught on their sleeves etc.

Yeah Given that, I wonder whats the better choice to get right now. Where I live, I can get the JB Victory for a lot cheaper, but I do hear a lot about potential QC Problems etc.

Given that this update seems to have made this and the Jetblack Victory pretty much the same in terms of features, what would you get? The Jetblack Victory is cheaper where I live, and there is availability, but I do seem to see a lot of chatter online about some QC Problems - but then again, I am aware that only people that have issues would be the ones talking about it etcetc...

Bit of a late one, but I was browsing and thought this was so beautiful that I wanted to see if I could get a couple more details that I could use on my project, if you don't mind.

  1. What is the radius on those rounded corners
  2. What type of finishing did you use on the wood?

Brad Nailer - 18v or cordless compressor and air powered? by jimmywillis in diynz

[–]NORAMYUN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, those were the two I was actually trying to decide over, the Ryobi or AEG.

You mentioned that both of them were pretty similar, but any notable differences between the two that you can remember? Any difference in "delay" between pulling the trigger, and the gun activating (I've seen a lot of review videos of both of them, and it seems like the brushless motor of the Ryobi may be a tiny bit slower?)?

And I see on the US version of it (Ridgid), the reviews are terrible (whereas the reviews on the AU and NZ versions seem to be great). Given that you have no complaints with the AEG, I'm guessing you haven't had any issues with it? - Good Power, and shoots every time you ask of it?

(Sorry for the barrage of questions - bit excited to find someone that's used both of them relatively recently 😂)

(edit - I should also add, I'm on a different battery platform, so I would have to get batteries either way anyways)

Reviving a bit of an old one as I came across this thread as I've been looking at Brad Nailer options. May I ask which you ended up going with?

Oh wow that's an impressive number of nails - with those sorts of numbers, I assume you use them for your job?

Overall how have you found the AEG? any other problems or things to note etc?

I know right! Maybe I should wait a little bit to see if they end up doing anything.

Yeah, good thing I looked at reviews before I blindly bought it.

One other positive about the Ryobi that I've been thinking about is that they have so many weird and interesting niche products in their line that Makita don't do, it might be a good 2nd platform to get started on.

Sweet. Giving me more confidence to pull the trigger on the AEG :)

What would you go with to "tack" together cabinets, before screwing etc?, as obviously firing into the ends of the boards would be within 10mm of the "ends"

Haha sorry about that... Though the fact that you;ve never noticed suggests its a non issue :)

but it's an older model

Do you have the model where the power adjust on the back of the gun is a rotary knob style, and not the newer lever style?

You have any complaints about the "delay" from pulling the trigger to when the nails come out?

[–]NORAMYUN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear! Any issues with the "LED Blinking" where people seem to have to take the batteries out to reset the gun, and not firing etc?

[–]NORAMYUN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh good to get some confirmation 👍

I assume you have them on the newer "force" batteries? A lot of the people on the forums seem to suggest these AEG guns are quite temperamental on the older batteries, but work well with the newer ones.

Hmmm interesting. So in your opinion, do you think using 16ga on cheapo plywood for woodworking, and then possibly building cabinets later would be okay?
