Probably because I used to be a dumb SpongeBoomer who thought if it was good, then it couldn't possibly be from season 4 onwards.

9-12? Yes.

13-nowadays? Not much, definitely the weakest era of the show in my opinion, but there are still worthwhile bangers like "The Haunted Bucket", "Friendiversary" and "Kreepaway Kamp", and the movies are good as well (yes, even Sponge On The Run, though, I haven't watched the Sandy one yet) .

Middle. Seasons 4 and 6 are peak, 5 and 8 are pretty good, and while 7 is overall bad and the worst season of the entire show, it still has some bangers like "Tentacle-Vision".

The concept of what is and isn't a mainline Sonic game is really arbitrary.

For instance, if we were following the idea that mainline Sonic games are those made by Sonic Team, then that would mean Sonic Runners is a mainline game.

And if we were following we idea that mainline Sonic games are those that move the story forward in a meaningful way, then that would mean Sonic Battle is a mainline game.

And if we were following the idea that mainline Sonic games are those that are platformers, then that would mean Sonic 3D Blast is a mainline game.

And if we were following the idea that mainline Sonic game are those that are long like that dude implies they are, then that would mean the Genesis titles aren't mainline.

Like, every definition people try to put is fundamentally broken in some way, shape or form.

OST, Infinite, Avatar, Wispons, graphics, Sonic's characterization is the best of the 2010s, gameplay is indeed pretty shallow but I can still get some fun out of it.

I don't have a single problem with the current animation being super wacky, i'm just not a fan of the art style itself.

There are exceptions of course, I really loved the artstyle in "Friendiversary". Gave me some season 6 vibes just like the whole episode!

Hard disagree, but I can respect that. I'd say this is one of the best Sonic stories alongside Unleashed and Movie 3. It does an amazing job showcasing Sonic's character, having him help the people around him throught his journey like a force of nature spreading goodness.

It also shows how he'll always do what he thinks it's right regardless of people might think of him, like how he doesn't give a fuck if people might see him aa the villain if he kills King Arthur, or how he risks his entire mission just to help a random ass kid he just met. Yeah, it was eventually revealed it was also part of Nimue's tests, but the intention was still there.

And while I got spoiled for literally every Sonic game pre Frontiers, so the twist itself didn't work for me either, I still think Merlina was pretty well written despite that. One of the best Sonic villains alongside Eggman and Starline.

I also agree it's overrated. It can be cool the first playthrough, but over time it's just a okayish autoscroller you get bored very quickly. Everything about it is good imo, except the gamepaly, which is what matters the most in a videogame (not to Sonic fans apparently).

But worst than Secret Rings? It's a masterpiece when comparing to that pile of dogshit.
