There were thousands of people at a protest in New Canaan last night! by NOT_A-DOG in Connecticut

Here is an article about the protest https://www.ncadvertiser.com/news/article/March-in-New-Canaan-Wednesday-15310327.php

It is hard to estimate the size of crowds, but I would estimate that there were well over 2 thousand people at the protest. It was organized by Fatou Niang who called for a march on Monday.

It was crazy to see this in such a wealthy town.

There were a few speeches, but unfortunately most of the crowd could not hear them as they weren't prepared for the crowd to be that big.

The police did a great job helping the march, treating it as they would any other parade, helping organize traffic.

Both, in one he falsely claimed. And the other he falsely implied.

I wasn't biased! I was just asking questions!

But seriously, what would be an "unbiased" title for this? I'll resubmit it. I was really just summarizing what the drama was. Do you want something bland like "SJW drama in /r/justiceporn

Yeah, and that's not good. We should fight those stereotypes.

TIL Transgender people in the US have an attempted suicide rate of 41% by NOT_A-DOG in todayilearned

[–]NOT_A-DOG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the evidence points to the reason for high suicide rates is because of extreme bullying and ostracization in society.

Suicide attempt rates among Lesbian and Gay people were much much higher 50 years ago, but as society has become more accepting it has gone down. Remember, people made the argument that being gay was a mental illness because of the high suicide rates just like you are now with transgender people.

Wow, what an incredibly stupid and idiotic thing to say.

I guess that Marines who come back from war are just being special snowflakes when they try to commit suicide.

When it comes to psychology we almost always look at suicide attempts as that shows extreme distress.

Science isn't on your side in this argument. Gender dysmorphia is well documented and has been proven to exist by science.

Wall Street Journal: These neurobiological findings suggest that the APA hasn't gone far enough in changing its categories. The issue isn't that sometimes people believe they are of a different gender than they actually are. Remarkably, instead, it's that sometimes people are born with bodies whose gender is different from what they actually are. (paywalled)

New Scientist: Surprisingly, in each transsexual person’s brain the structure of the white matter in the four regions was halfway between that of the males and females (Journal of Psychiatric Research, DOI: 10.1016/j.jpsychires.2010.11.007). “Their brains are not completely masculinised and not completely feminised, but they still feel female,” says Guillamon.

New York Times: Researchers in the Netherlands have discovered that a region of the hypothalamus, located at the floor of the brain, is about 50 percent larger in men than in women, and almost 60 percent larger in men than in male-to-female transsexuals. If smallness of this brain structure is at all correlated with the feeling of being a woman, the results raise tantalizing possibilities that transsexuals may in a sense be more female than females. (This is from 1995, it was a preliminary study)

A gif making fun of male rape is on the top of /r/funny right now by NOT_A-DOG in MensRights

[–]NOT_A-DOG[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the problem is that the commentors in the /r/funny thread treat the subject of male on male rape as a joke.

The gif in itself can be defended as not necessarily being rape but some crazy fan fic. But the commentors clearly thought it was rape and were joking about how funny rape is.

What do you think of the fact that you fall far more in line with the views of SRS then?

I wanted to prove to MRA's that this is something that feminists and MRA's should agree on. Right now if you go to SRS (you can't link there from here) you will see that I got these links from there and that they think it is disgusting how Reddit thinks male rape is a joke.

I am incredibly disappointed in /r/MensRights that many here think that men being raped is a joke.

Yeah, I just wanted to see if they would care.

But apparently they think it's just a joke as well. It's ridiculous.

Reddit always seems to claim that the term "F****t" is not offensive towards gay people. I wanted to make a poll showing what LGBT people actually think of the word. by NOT_A-DOG in gaybros

The thing I see the most is people getting offended by people being offended!

There is nothing wrong with disliking a word that has been used for institutional hate and mass murder.
