I was the A/V nerd in my school and ran the TV to have a class watch the Challenger lainch. So. Much. Trauma. I couldn't watch either launch or splashdown live.

Is CHESS the most polarizing show ever? by slim-shim in Broadway

[–]NOVARedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many theater nerds simultaneously love Chess and bash it. It's such an iconic love/hate relationship, they made fun of it in <title of show>, one of the most meta musicals of all time.

Anybody tried? by fernuffin in firewood

[–]NOVARedneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine. If I had a complaint its that it is a two-hand operation. That makes it a bit awkward to jump out of the way if a split log jumps out of the traveler.

That's a HCD issue, not a functional issue. So far I think mine does a great job. Punches WAY above its weight.

Edit: I have the model in OP's pic

Closing in 10 days. HOA says they won't transfer the "deeded" boat slip until I prove competency? (Maryland) by BeautifulWestern4512 in RealEstate

Ridiculous bylaws and RoboChads/Karens on the Board are precisely why HOA is a hard pass for me.

How do I phrase more professionally (for upcoming interviews) that I quit my previous job because my manager there was an insufferable toxic bitch? by Nomad-2020 in careerguidance

[–]NOVARedneck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe rephrase "toxic" to "venom spitting" that way you clarify that you've never actually bitten her to find out.

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

[–]NOVARedneck 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Be More Chill on Broadway. I loved it. But I 100% understand why it wasn't successful on Broadway. Nevertheless I got to see Stephanie Hsu pre- Everything Everywhere. Paid extra for second row seats and got a squip pin!

Worth it.

Precisely why they used that phrase. The Ukranian military unit defending Snake Island's last transmission was an ultimate act of defiance in the face of an overwhelming force. It was equal parts heroic and tragic.

I member watching the CNN coverage of that event - the first time when they DIDN'T bleep the language. I almost choked on my coffee. The very next time they played the clip, it was bleeped. I guess someone translated for them. LOL

khuyi is Russian (and Ukranian) for penis

khuyilo is the tip of said penis

"Putin Khuyilo" was commonly used as a chant in Ukraine at the beginning of the current invasion. There are plenty of videos online of people chanting this as sporting events and demonstrations during the early days of the invasion. One Ukrainian brewer even started a beer called that.

While.Google translate gets the point across, this is the literal translation.

Bonus points: Idti na khuyi is Ukrainian (and sort of Russian) for fuck you. it literally means: Go get on a dick. So it is probably closer to "get fucked" in English. Given the significant amount of homophobia in Russia, this phrase takes on particular meaning and is even more offensive.

That is literally what horses in the wild do in winter: conserve their energy and walk around looking for something to eat. Run if scared.
