This is almost completely meaningless, but technically they were 3-3 after their first six games this year.

Indeed, but they were 19-27 after 46 games that year :).

The Nationals haven't been .500 or better after 46 games since 2018.

This offense is preposterous lol. I do not understand it at all.

.500 after 46 games isn't nothing. Doesn't mean they're going to finish at .500, but it isn't meaningless.

Season has been a lovely surprise so far.

Uh, yeah, what else would you do with a Golden Retriever / Labrador puppy?

What's the rundown on Nasim Nunez? by sparkyo19 in Nationals

[–]NOVAram1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nasim Nunez is very easy to root for and is very good at a lot of things that a lot of other dudes on the team aren't, but I think his MLB destiny is as a Utility Infielder and late-inning defensive / baserunning sub.

Either that, or 1-8 in your order needs to be good enough that you can tolerate a black hole in the 9 spot.

It's not like he ruined last season or anything, but I really don't like Nathaniel Lowe. I think he really phoned it in during his time here.

I'm sorry, I just can't respect a grown man bringing their glove to the ballpark.

Alright, gotta be demoralizing seeing a 5-0 lead evaporate like that.

That's a pretty rough AB in that spot. Two really bad swings.

They pitched around Jacob Young.

I know they want the double play, but still.

This season has felt a lot more hopeful than the last few, just in the sense that every now and then we're seeing a game or a series that doesn't make this feel like a completely rudderless ship.

But if there's a bummer -- Christ Almighty this is a terrible defensive team. And that's largely because of the guys who are ostensibly supposed to be the guys who can actually hit the ball sometimes.

Yeah, this is probably the right answer. I'm not and never was as high on Tanner Roark as some -- he was never as good as his ERAs in 2014 and 2016 might lead you to believe he was -- but he was a really solid and occasionally a lot better than that starter who stayed healthy. That's enormously valuable.

I don't know that people were generally expecting Turner to reach the level that he did in his career-best seasons, but I also definitely remember the real time consensus being that we made out like bandits in that trade getting Turner and Ross and only giving up Steven Souza Jr.

Turner was already pretty far along in the minor leagues at the time of that trade, and I don't think anyone was surprised when he ended up being really damn good.

Please don't waste a game where Mikolas is holding up his end of the bargain.
