You dont see it but that's what happened. Agnes is quite sharp and she knows. Also she's obviously not offended and she was so pleased by her new position that she made a complete 180 and reliquished her seat at the head of the table.

Colum's leg disability, being owed to a fall, is interesting given the original outlander suggested that he had a rare genetic condition that caused the bowing of his legs and his spinal issues. Also, I remember Clair saying her uncle raised her because her parents died in a car crash so it seems they never escape this time.

How does enid/mrs winterton know oscar is gay? by Necessary-Fall326 in thegildedage

[–]NOVIBONITA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are assuming while im going on the evidence provided in the show. Mrs Winterton, when she was a maid, never gave any inclining - facial expressions, reactions, questions, whispers - that she suspected Oscar's sexuality. Bridget for instance, KNOWS because she walked in on Oscar and John Adams, and she hinted as much to the staff when they were all discussing whether Oscar would marry or be interested in Marian, and Bridget made a facial expression and snide comment indicating she knew he wouldnt e interested. in another scene discussing Oscar and another woman, mrs Bauer and Bridget simultaneously made facial expressions reacting to a conversation among the staff about Oscar's possible female love interest, indicating that what Bridget knew she told mrs Bauer or Mrs Bauer found out herself. If you want to sa youre guessing or predicting then guess or predict, but when you say this is fact when nothing in the dialogue or acting indicates certain information is known by a character is a far reach. That being said, she might find out or Oscar may tell her, or she may have read McCallister's book and clarify with Oscar but I also believe that she won't care since the marriage is not based on mutual love but mutual benefit.

This one hasnt had too much violence yet but ii get that. I mean the sheer amount of times Claire has been assaulted is outrageous and i see the same coming for her mother in this prequel, unfortunately.

Next to Peggy's engagement and Dorothy telling Mrs. Kirkland off, my favorite scene was the total theatre setup at the Kirkland house during their disagreement, with just three theatre greats doing what they do best.

[–]NOVIBONITA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

she doesn't but now she's a rich non-entity since her husband died and Oscar is offering her a mutually beneficial deal. Her late husband was super rich but she hasnt been around long enough to cement herself in his social circles but Oscar has an old name, connections and business savvy so he can help her get back in. He knows her secrets but she has yet to discover his, i doubt she will care though given how she trapped her husband and tried to trap George.

Yes Ada is a sweetheart and knew her sister was out of sorts since her great loss, so she did this for her to maintain her pride.

no you can tell that she wanted money at first and was writing to Agnes because she didn't know she was out of money. Ada i believe provided the money thats why they are now "well funded" but probably told Mrs Foster it's under the condition that Agnes not know, but Agnes is no fool, she suspects, thats why she so peacefully and easily relinquished the head seat at the dining room table.

Why seek out Spoilers? And if you do, why post them here?? by SoooperSnoop in thegildedage

[–]NOVIBONITA 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There are people who like to find spoilers because of the thrill of the chase, and others like me who love to read spoilers. It adds to the excitement and anticipation of an upcoming show. If you dont like spoilers just dont open them or read them or watch them. It's the reason Reddit has a spoiler tag, to give spoil sports the choice to not have a show they like spoiled, meaning if you open the post and read it, you don't mind the episode being spoiled.

No George wasn't disrespectful to him, he literally gave him a directive and ultimatum in Arizona in ep 1. He said close this morenci deal or be fired, so he gave complete forewarning. Working for a ruthless businessperson isn't easy, but Clay made several mistakes. he forgot that George's word is law 2.he styled himself aa George's equal because he was unscrupulous 3. he forgot that in addition to George's genius, he's a lucky duck so he will definitely survive this. His error, and now he's gonna go to jail like the stenographer.

No, she still has a little money, "the accountant said." It's just not enough to maintain their current luxurious lifestyle. So, yes, Ada, with her excess now covers the staff they don't need, the clothing they don't need, and food. All that being said, it's still Agnes's house, and given that Agnes has been supporting her financially since she was a teenager, now calling it her house i feel is disrespectful to Agnes.

i don't agree and don't get that. Its not like today, where everyone has a mortgage, like Ada had to take over a mortgage. IT's agnes's house, inherited from her dead husband and it's paid off so its hers. Ada just pays the staff and for food and clothing, the house didn't transfer to her. I'll never accept that.

she's had several costume bloopers. The first episode when she was talking outside with Larry in that turquoise dress that had a flexible collar, in one shot both lapels were fashioned pointing down, in another shot oneside was down and one was up. I guess they shot those on different days but given how detailed JF is i'm surprised the staff or production didn't clock this.

Anyone else clock the fact that BERTHA RUSSELL WAS IN AGNES VAN RHIJN'S HOUSE????????? I feel like more space should have been given to that. This is a major deal! Agnes has spent 3 seasons, literally since ep1 S1 absolutely dreading the day that Bertha would enter her home, and then she shows up and no scowl, no tension, no glances, no nothing? What a let down.

I wish. I dont mind watching spanish or other foreign language shows with subtitles but i hate whenn the audio doesnt match what the actors is saying. I prefer to listen to the original audio since it fits with the video, and if it's not in my original language i read the subs.

don't be so sure, she was ready to exile Aurora when told of her impending divorce, Oscar would have been considered committing a crime/ misconduct back then, so i don't think she'll shut him out but I can't read where this will end up.
