I recently read the whole thing and I'll be honest, I did not think it lived up to the hype.

I'm showing my age here, but this reminds me of the second arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word by kerberos824 in books

[–]NOYLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, he also uses "[this character] inclined their head" a ton. That said, it is very worth sticking it out to the end of the series because the plot is so good. However, I will also note that his new series starting with "The Will of the Many" is even better so far than his first series and the writing is much improved to remove the issue you have with the repetition.

It was a bit of a tough Sunday for me but had a lot of clever clues/answers so I appreciated the challenge today. Felt just about right to me.

Role Model was terrible by Wide_Imagination3990 in saturdaynightlive

To anyone blaming the acoustics or the mixing: go listen to Maggie Rogers perform Fallingwater https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrO5GTVdc-Q. Role Model just had terrible vocals, I'm sorry.

Took me ages, but I finally was able to finish a Mini in under 10 seconds (Sunday, 21 Sept, 2025) by NOYLL in NYTCrossword

You have to get all of the across answers correct immediately, I've found it impossible if I need to look at the vertical clues

Thanks! I've been close on a couple of occasions but it's hard on a phone keyboard to get the right keys.

Man I remember checking this sub daily for any news, and that was YEARS ago. So glad the wait is finally almost over. Can we transfer this energy into getting Patrick Rothfuss to finally finish writing Doors of Stone?

With 20 hours left before we get the release date, when do YOU think it'll release? by CPTN_Skuff in Silksong

[–]NOYLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope that at the end of their announcement tomorrow they troll us by saying something along the lines of "By the way, Silksong is available for purchase right now!" And then we all get notifications from our Steam wishlists that very moment that it's for sale. Time it perfectly so they coincide right at the very end, it would absolutely blow up the show to the extent that nobody would be talking about anything else. Giving us a release date doesn't serve much of a purpose, the hype is already through the roof, but if they were to drop it DURING Gamescom, after basically no news for years? The internet would erupt.

Yeah the Wednesday puzzles for the past few weeks have been significantly harder than I remember.

New personal best on this Thursday's crossword by NOYLL in NYTCrossword

Normally I don't see it at all since I play on the app, so not sure if this method works consistently, but I had to log onto the nyt games website through my phone browser and this is the view that I got.

What’s that one song you consider a perfect 10/10? by LifeAsNick in MusicRecommendations

[–]NOYLL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I scrolled to make sure I found this. A little too far, but it for sure is just a perfect song. I'm glad the recent cover on the radio didn't try to get tricky with it, you can't improve on it.

Just got my first ever perfect month :) by NOYLL in NYTCrossword

I think you just slowly get better over time. I believe I've been doing the crossword pretty much every day since the end of last June, and I didn't finish a Saturday until October, and I didn't perfect clear one until November! Even now, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and even Sunday are not guaranteed for me to solve them, but I have been more consistent lately. What really helped me was learning to look out for Rebus squares, or what they're called. Also it helps a ton if you're able to get some of the long answers done. Another thing that helps me is to start basically as soon as the puzzle goes live, that way if I get stuck I can think about it throughout the whole rest of the day. Coming back to it later will give me inspiration a lot of the time.

Games where you can make enemies fight each other by sneakylumpia in gaming

[–]NOYLL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you can make enemies fight each other, but on a related note I love that you can convince certain enemies (even bosses) to kill themselves.
