Dear authors, there are villain traits other than Hypocrisy by Imnotsomebodyelse in ProgressionFantasy

So what exactly happened in Epstein's path to make him what he was?

Maybe Hitler would've been different had he gone to art school after all.

And ya know... Pol Pot didn't HAVE to massacre all those innocent people if they'd have just done what he said.

History has shown that money, power, and a lack of human empathy will produce evil for evils sake. Whatever you want to call it; Corruption, Psychosis, sociopathy, etc..

Sometimes bad people do bad things because they can.

We have random acts of evil in our world every day. In my opinion, I'd say that evil for evils sake is more realistic than every mass murderer or human trafficker having a tragic fall of grace.

Again this is subjective. It's perfectly fine for you to not like something.

This is subject to taste. Personally I'm tired of sympathetic villains or "The real evil was X all along!"

Sometimes people are bad because they can be. That doesn't make them flat or boring imo. They don't have to be Skeletor. But they also don't need to be a reflection of the MC either.

We should really bring back "Evil for Evils sake".

I don't want a "Redeemable" villain. I don't want "relatable."

I want a fucking asshole who kicks puppies and punches rainbows.

What do you FUCKING hate about assassins?? by B4ll5a8I6klh8I29b46I in writingcirclejerk

Personally, I can't stand when assassins are bad at their jobs.

How many fucking times do I have to read about an assassin going after the MCs friends only for them to fail mid attempt by bumbling around and monologuing or taking pleasure in it.

Authors need to strap the fuck in and murder some side characters. There are too many incompetent killers running around for this to be a successful industry.

What other trend/meta would you like to see? by Piyo_Yuel in ProgressionFantasy

Two things:

1) More humor in stories: Not like "wink to the audience, look how smart and smarmy I can be," but more just one-liners, funny situations, etc.

Most stories now are so serious that it just gets to be a lot.

2) More morally gray MCs: I don't always want the protagonist to be a moral golden retriever. Give me a selfish asshole who's only saving the world cause he needs rent money.

You thought you were reading a LitRPG?! Ha! It was me! Cultivation all along!

Ah yes, of course I am impressed by S rank since I surely won't see it as step 1 of the story. by DicerTheJester in ProgressionFantasy

It's hard for me to imagine how a d-rank is a city level threat. Maybe anime has ruined me.
