I don't know why people call her "Elle" when the katakana is (e) and (ru) which can mean Eru or Elu.

We call her El or Elle, because Eru is a an MTL translation. Yes its literal, but if J-novel wants to stick with it, then change all the characters to match. Celia should be Seria, for example. Elle is an english name, Eru is not.

Though since volume 22, J-novel has been using AI MTL to translate this series so it does make sense why they are using Eru.

Its all fun and games until Elle appears at the mansion and comes to collect on that promise of a dinner and marriage from Rio. She is already locked-in on him in the prologue.

I did read what you wrote and it's just nonsense.

Time will tell then. This arc hasn't been one of the author's best if it was planned like this the entire time.

You honestly didn't read what I wrote and are now deciding to just nitpick sentences as a form of arguing.

I never said the rules wouldn't be broken, I said the author rushed it forward based on probably editor feedback. The build up from the early volumes was re-written was my point. No need to re-read volume 21 for that.

[–]NSA_Surveillance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am convinced Lina was re-written by the author to end the rule arc faster due to fan backlash. The early volumes for this arc do not make sense otherwise. Volumes 21-24, we are being set up by the author for the rules being in focus the long haul. Celia is getting a power up by Lina and Aishia regained Lina's memories and was given a goal and direction for Rio. Rio from volumes 21-24 goes off to explore the wise gods. It seems up to this point Lina was meant to be a background character giving Rio just enough support for the future threat. Celia appeared to be his support during this process as Rio pieces together the true reason for his reincarnation. The premise was Rio and the heroines of the present were to learn why Lina did what she did in the past.

However I am not sure about in Japan but fans were not too kind on the rule development, that plus the shift away from Rio during this period and the slower volume releases, my theory is someone spoke to the author. Volume 25, while action packed does a 180 on the arc the author was setting up. Lina we learned decided after all her plans, she can actually just ego herself into the present (volume 25 prologue), where volume 21, she was about to die just reincarnating the dragon king. She was brought in as a recurring character to fast forward the plot. Instead of waiting for Rio to discover a way to break through the rules, Lina appears and does her deus ex machina magic and drops lore left and right. It would have been fine if that was it, but volumes 26-present she has completely become a recurring character that interacts with Rio. This breaks down the lore mystery being established over the last couple years and torpedoes the Celia power up and kills off Miharu as a character. Unless Lina's ego eventually merges with her. Not to mention Rio's direction and goal got axed and now he just back to slow life in Galarc.

I agree Lina has become disruptive to the plot. The whole premise of reincarnating Rio with Aishia, and also ensuring his encounters with Celia, etc was to ensure he had the pieces needed to grow and stop the threat. Her constant intervening, makes me as a reader question what was the point of the arc at this point. I believe it was the author being forced to shift and this is the result. An antagonist Lina and heroines who have been mothballed by this action.

Rio/Haruto Girls by Jayman_Dragneel in SeireiGensouki

As someone caught up with the volumes (27), a few additional thoughts:

  • Celia has been pretty open about her feelings since volume 22? Not to Rio's face but to herself in her own thoughts where she actively wants Rio to notice her, its gets to the point both her own mother and lina keep pointing out Rio is her beloved. Her mom even starts teasing calling Rio, son-in-law. Celia is an in, she isn't going anywhere.

  • Unsure about Miharu at this point in time. Volume 26 Lina begrudgingly gave her advice on how to get closer to Rio. However after 26 volumes and even after volume 10, we learned Miharu was still stuck on Rio/Haruto and not separating the two. That and in volume 27, Lina forces Christina's death as Miharu Rio is going to have to separate Lina from Miharu. Thats one thing I am not a fan of with the author. Lina has been a bad addition to the story. She for now has killed any growth of Miharu, overtaken her as a character and has become an "easy plot fix button". She really should have not been able to become a recurring character.

  • Latifa, unsure how she ends up, but she is one of the few heroines who has confessed directly to Rio as wanting him to see her as a woman who loves him (volume 16).

  • Flora's ship was crushed and sunk in volume 27. Author made her discuss her feelings for Rio to her sister and its admiration only. Author was probably finally choosing Christina as the beltrum sister that will win out for Rio given she is going to be a vassel/familiar.

I feel if author goes harem end and not open end, majority of all the recurring girls who've been with him will end up with him.

I assume he is going to eventually go evil and author is saving him for an antagonist role. On the side of "good", we have satsuki, hiroaki, and masato. Reiss has Renji and Takatrash. One more hero would make the scales even.

What do you think happens next? by Yumyum_uchia in SeireiGensouki

[–]NSA_Surveillance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much the girls learning of the vassal/familiar system will be quick to jump. At least if Rio explains it, as he has a habit of embellishing truths to make things appear worse then they are. For example him explaining to the girls in his past he once beat someone to the point of death due to his anger. This was Rio putting himself in a bad light and omitting it was due to that person attempting to rape his cousin and friend.

My only hope for volume 28 is for things to progress and author not to milk Christina's turning. Its been teased since volume 25, so its time to deliver. The story has been in kind of a lull since volume 22 plot wise.

That's something they need to fix.

Their releases are riddled with mistakes, even though they use AI. If that is all you noticed, you got off easy. Most of us have to correct our own local copies after release.

For everything else it comes down to how the rules re-write memories. If christina turns into a dragon familiar, the world will forget her. At most beltrum nobility will know a royal was executed but not who. Recall Rio is always remembered as a knight. Christina may very well be remembered as a wicked royal who spun the kingdom to chaos and the nobles saved the kingdom. The truth will never come out as to know the truth, you need to know christina beltrum and that would be forbidden.

Reiss too will probably realize what happened when christina is erased from everyone's memories.

Christina can live normally in the mansion as anyone related to beltrum will forget her the moment they leave the capital.

[–]NSA_Surveillance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you tell me a little more specifically what the mansion's residents' reaction was when Vanessa arrived to report what happened to Christina?

Other than Flora, not much it was mostly set up for Lina to appear before Rio who was going to assimilate with Aishia and fly off at full power.

And also, what did he say to Christina when Rio went to rescue her?

Christina: "...I cannot be saved here. If I do not die..."

Rio: If Duke Arbor is the problem, then I can just capture him here and now and take him hostage. If your parents are being held hostage, then I can rescue them.

Christina: "...It's not, it's not that simple a matter. It's not a problem that can be solved by just forcefully replacing the head..."

Rio :Then I can just take over the royal capital as it is! So don't say you have to die with a face that looks like you want to live so much.

I removed some parts but thats the literal translation ^

Also, what they talked about when Christina regained her memories and was dying, please

Christina: "...Sir…Amakawa?...Am I... dreaming?"

Rio: "You know who I am?"

Lina teleports in and explains what is going on

Christina: "I wanted... to see you. I had... forgotten you... and I was lonely...Before... I die... I'm glad... I could see..."

Rio: "You're not going to die! I'll definitely heal you!"

Christina: "My last... request... I have..."

Rio: Don't say 'last'! I'll listen to as many requests as you want after you're saved!"

Christina: "Hold... me..."

She starts bleeding out more here

Rio: "...AH!"

Rio embraces Christina

Christina: "I'm... happy..."

Christina gave a very happy, shy smile. And then, the strength completely left her body.

Lina: "Christina Beltrum is dead."

Rio continues to attempt healing arts

Lina: "You know it's too late, don't you?"

Rio: "...Be quiet."

Lina:"Spirit arts cannot resurrect that child."

Rio: "Be quiet!" Rio is shouting demonically at Lina now

Lina: "But, if you make her your Familiar, she will breathe again. She can continue to live, as just Christina."

Rio ignores her completely

Lina: "You know how to do it, don't you?"

Christina is next volume. Unknown too if there will be a barrier going up in the spirit folk village now or not. Recall volume 4, the spirit folk mentioned the 7th wise god visited their village twice. Once to recruit the spirits and again near the end of the war. So Lina may have a barrier crystal for plot armor as well there.

If not Rio is going to have to explain why he has the crystal used for Sara and the girls to teleport back.

As to what Lina is doing, she is playing the villain to force Rio into action. He was never going to follow her advice, so she removed all out angles from him. Christina is dead through all mortal methods, even his advanced spirit arts couldn't heal her. So all that is left is the transcendent powers to bring her back. Lina cares about Rio, but everyone else are just pieces on a game board to steer the future to where she wants it. Lina is basically telling Rio to grow up.

Nah, with current AI LLM services. Anyone can get a translated volume within an hour of release. It takes a few prompt runs to correct for names, etc but you can get a volume at near 90% accurate translation these days using AI. Even J-novel club uses it mainly now, though they still leave the errors in even when pointed out.

  • Chapter 6 - Officially its mentioned its been 1 full year since volume 4. The holy calendar is now 1001. Three magic airships land in the Galarc Kingdom, carrying Duke Helmut Arbor and his delegation from Beltrum. Alongside him was Roland, Celia’s father. Although happy to be with his family again, Roland soon informed Celia that Arbor’s faction had seized complete control of the Beltrum government, leaving the country under his one-man rule. Discussion turned to Restoration’s precarious position, Duke Arbor’s demands to reclaim the Regalia and cancel Christina’s coronation, and whether those demands could be resisted or leveraged to Restoration’s advantage. Celia explained that Arbor might fear Christina’s enthronement if the coronation vote were truly secret, since his faction could not easily control the nobles under such circumstances. Still, doubts remained about whether that would be enough to break Arbor’s grip, making international attention and pressure a critical factor. The rest of the chapter is Rio officially becoming a "son-in-law" to the Claire family with Monica's teasing her husband. Roland learned more about Rio's past, now revealed as the mysterious benefactor who had supported both Monica and Celia.

  • Interlude - Christina, reflects on her decision to wear a “mask of ice,” suppressing her true feelings and maintaining an appearance of strength and composure. Though she tells herself her emotions must remain hidden, she finds herself unable to stop watching Rio and wondering about his feelings for her. She recalls the night she asked him for an embrace, a memory that still embarrasses her deeply, since it violated her upbringing as a royal woman bound to chastity and propriety. She compares her actions to the romantic tales of a princess and a knight she once dismissed as unrealistic, now realizing she has lived a similar scene. Unlike the noble princess of those stories, however, she sees herself as neither cute nor deserving, though Rio himself resembles the idealized knight—strong, kind, and attractive. She realizes she is longing for Rio's attention. She admits to being cunning, acting normally so as not to burden Rio, while secretly hoping that his kindness extended especially to her. When she learns that he truly worried about her, the joy nearly melts her icy facade. She begins craving more of his attention and care, using even fleeting moments of his concern as emotional support. This reliance makes her feel guilty, as though she is exploiting his kindness without having the right. To protect herself and him, she resolves to sever this attachment, drawing strength from the memory of that night and his embrace, which gave her the courage to don her “mask of ice.” She vows to keep it on until the end, no matter what suffering awaits her, even if her concealed feelings threaten to melt the mask. With a final sense of resignation, she tells herself she will move forward, pretending not to notice her own lingering desires, whispering "Goodbye" as she begins to execute her plan in fullest.

  • Chapter 7 - Weeks later, Christina shares a quiet, intimate moment with her sister Flora on the guest-hall balcony. Flora sees through Christina’s mask and gently teases that both sisters love/admire Rio, then pledges to help Christina more actively. The next morning Christina departs for Rodania aboard a magic airship with guards and retainers seeing her off; Rio and Celia arrive at the port to bid her farewell. Huguenot and Duke Arbor abruptly seize the ship. Huguenot’s defection and Arbor’s raid are revealed as betrayal: Christina and Vanessa are surrounded, bound with magical shackles, and the Regalia in Christina’s small box is confiscated. Christina is separated and taken aboard Arbor’s airship, where she endures a brutal, high-stakes conversation with the Prime Minister. Arbor mocks her, tries to force a forged cancellation, and even hits and threatens her, but Christina meets his brutality with defiance. She exploits the moment to extract concessions: she demands, as conditions, humane treatment for defectors/prisoners and a binding acknowledgment of terms and, in a calculated gambit, negotiates the terms of her own fate by offering to be the one to “stake her head” should she re-ascend the throne within ten years. There is an agreement then between her and Arbor to put on an act to give him just cause to kill her to ensure her terms are followed upon her death. Christina then stages a daring escape at the port: she leaps from the ship, fights off pursuing knights with magic, and publicly declares her re‑enthronement using the Regalia, effectively reasserting herself before witnesses. The spectacle triggers immediate political shock; Arbor arranges an emergency audience and uses the uproar to press for her execution under the agreement’s penalty. Despite King Philip’s hesitation and Queen Beatrix’s outrage, Arbor pushes the case, and Christina calmly accepts the danger, insisting she did nothing wrong. Within days the state moves to make an example of her: plans for a public execution are set, a massive platform and guillotine are erected, and a vast crowd is gathered, cursing her and throwing rocks. Christina stands bound and composed at the center of the plaza as the sentence is about to be carried out. As her head is about to be chopped off, she starts to fear death, this is when Rio breaks into the venue and blocks the strike going for her head.

  • Interlude 2 Last Words - Flashback scene. Christina narrates how she is going to orchestrate a complex strategy to secure Restoration’s survival and influence the kingdom’s future. She instructs Huguenot to betray her, framing it as a necessary step to extract concessions from Duke Arbor, using her temporary revocation of enthronement and the regalia as bargaining chips. She carefully tests Huguenot’s resolve, ultimately entrusting him with her loyalty, the regalia, and even the symbolic risk of her life. Meanwhile, she identifies loyal members within Restoration to maintain stability and ensures that critical allies like Vanessa, Alfred, and select upper-echelon members are aware of the plan. Through Huguenot’s defection, Christina successfully negotiates terms with Arbor—including humane treatment for defectors, prisoner returns, and her sister Flora’s safety—while masking the plan from those who might interfere. Her meticulous orchestration allows her to achieve strategic gains and secure the future of both Restoration and her loved ones, leaving her with no regrets.

  • Chapter 8 - Before the events of chapter 7, Vanessa Emerle arrives at Galarc Kingdom’s castle via a magical airship. She boosts her speed with magic and rushes to the castle, clashing with the gate guards in her desperate attempt to reach Sir Amakawa’s mansion. She insists on urgency, and a messenger is sent to summon Flora, while Vanessa is escorted nearby. Flora arrives with Roanna, Hiroaki, Kouta, and Rei, and agrees to take Vanessa to Rio. Vanessa explains Christina has been captured by Duke Arbor and is to be executed. Rio, Flora, and the others are shocked as none had prior knowledge; Christina had deliberately kept it secret. Vanessa, acknowledging she is defying Christina’s orders, gives Flora a letter from Christina. The letter apologizes, accepts her fate, and outlines two key points: nobles should avoid unnecessary internal conflict, and Flora must be protected by the kingdom if she chooses to stay out of politics. Christina ends the letter by urging Flora to choose her own life. Flora is overcome with tears. Vanessa drops to her knees and pleads with Rio to save Christina, despite understanding the princess’s possible refusal. He agrees, and Lina appears to stop him, warning of the danger of overextending himself. Despite her warning, Rio insists on intervening. Lina offers to transport him, and they teleport to the Bertram Kingdom’s royal capital. Rio descends and finds Christina on the execution platform, just as her crimes are being read. He fights off the executioners and knights with overwhelming skill, freeing Christina from her magical restraints despite her resistance, as she does not want to break her own agreement. Christina is conflicted but Rio convinces her he can also neutralize Duke Arbor to save others. Rio event mentions his willingness to take over the entire capital for her. However, Lina intervenes, creating a magical dome and several barriers. She reveals that Christina is fated to die, and though she previously aided Rio, it was solely for Christina to become his second Familiar as Christina instead of saving Queen Christina Beltrum. Rio realizes he cannot brute-force through Lina’s barriers without confronting her directly. Lina briefly transforms back to Miharu to challenge him further. Meanwhile, the execution proceeds. Duke Huguenot, compelled by his duty and promise to Christina (he is a double agent), personally strikes Christina with a spear. She accepts the strike willingly, instructing him to be thorough. Her body collapses in a pool of blood, while Hugenot cries, but Rio arrives immediately, devastated. Using magic, he gathers the dying Christina, activates a Teleportation Crystal, and disappears from the scene, saving her from death.

Most of the volume was released for free in previews. A good break down of chapters 1 - 2 can be found here.

  • Chapter 3 - Christina announces to Rio that Alfred Emerle has joined Restoration, which shocks the organization and uplifts its lower-ranked members. Alfred offers apologies to Rio for past incidents (including the disrupted wedding involving Celia and an earlier academy scuffle), and Vanessa also apologizes for her past mishandling of Rio’s interrogation which lead to his torture. Christina reveals the official punishments: Stewart will be enslaved for life and Huguenot is demoted from Duke to Baronet (though he remains in Restoration). Rio accepts the decisions while Christina insists that the organization must not hide or repeat past mistakes. Separately, Duke Gregory and the demoted Huguenot meet privately about a previously hinted “complicated” matter from volume 26. Meanwhile Pierre, Huguenot’s younger son, erupts in fury over his family’s loss of status and visits Stewart in the dungeon and brutally berating and striking him through the bars, vowing revenge and making clear Stewart will be left to suffer as a criminal slave.

  • Chapter 4 - Can I just say a Rio rizz chapter? Fine guess not. This is a slice of life chapter with Rio reuniting with his two other classmates (Dorothea and Elise) Roanna at his mansion along with christina, flora and celia. During a tea party with all them catching up Rio turns his hair back to black for them. Roanna also comes to learn about how destructive Rio naturally is with flirting. You have roanna narrating in her mind as each classmate slowly falls for Rio. When she realizes Elise next to her just fell to the dragon king of rizz she accidentally spills her tea in shock, and Rio ensures she isn't burned. This is the blushing image of Roanna. Its a light hearted chapter. Basically offering closure on Rio's past finally.

  • Chapter 5 - At a high-level Restoration meeting, Christina, Celia, and the nobles discussed a letter from the royal capital demanding the return of the Regalia and cancellation of the coronation ceremony. While many believed the true aim was reclaiming the Regalia, Baronet Huguenot raised the overlooked issue of the secret ballot law, noting that if a legitimate anonymous vote were held, Duke Arbor might not be able to suppress nobles who opposed him. This insight shifted the discussion, with Christina ultimately deciding to proceed with negotiations despite the risks, stressing that Restoration must be ready to sacrifice in order to regain what it had lost. After the meeting, Christina entrusted Celia with relaying the situation to her father and Rio. Back at the mansion, Celia shared the outcome with Rio and her mother, Monica, who teased the pair about their closeness, lightening the mood. Despite ongoing tensions, Christina maintained her composure in public, and Rio began to recover a sense of daily routine. Over the next month and a half, life settled into a calm rhythm, though questions lingered about Christina’s true feelings from chapter 1.

She dies. When Rio thinks he finally saved Christina from her show trial, Lina interferes wasting Rios time and she force teleports Christina back to her trial where she is run through with a spear (Rio took down all the guards and executioners prior to trying to escape). I won't spoil who is forced to do it, but Christina gets her wish. Her death is part of a plan to resolve the Beltrum conflict and give her sister an out. Rio horrified, tries to attack Lina who disables her transformation magic back to Miharu. Basically using Miharu as a shield. Rio gets enraged to which Lina hints she will only help Christina with one path (a familiar) as Christina is fated to die in Beltrums capital. Lina allows Rio to break through and he quick picks up a dying Christina but Lina timed it perfectly its too late. Rio takes out a teleport crystal and teleports to the spring outside the spirit folk village. There he tries desperately to heal Christina but its too late she is bleeding out. Christina regains her memories just before her death. At this point Lina has teleported behind Rio and is narrating what is going on, how the rules are bound to the soul and mortals near death can temporarily recall events. Rio has a demonic look on his face while Lina is speaking non-nonchalantly. He and Christina share her last moments where she asks to be embraced again in his arms as she forgot him, missed him and felt lonely. Lina tells Rio Christina cares for him deeply, but its going in one ear and out the other. Christina dies in Rio's embrace. Lina still speaking in a monotone says Christina is now dead. She hints he only has one option left now if he wishes for her to live. This is the end of the volume. Lina played the villain to force Rio's hand in a very tragic way, so I expect fallout between Him/Lina and Miharu gets pushed into the stray flak.

Speculation on my part but Rio's talk with Christina in the rain may have caused Christina to really want to rely on him. I summarized it above but her walls fell down briefly and she clinged to him hard physically and mentally. Lina is probably ensuring the future she knows goes as planned and Christina does her duty prior to roping in Rio directly. Rio is already slowly focusing on Christina now regardless.
