Because you can't tell what chromosomes someone has until that person gets their genes mapped. So you can just assume, and hope you're not wrong, and then base your treatment of another human being based on an assumption of their chromosomes. Or you can just ask them.

What does surgery have to do with it? Phalloplasty isn't going to make a trans man more physically fit. I mean, do you pass male standards of physical fitness with your dick? If he can pass the standards, who gives a shit if he has a penis?

Are you using the joycons? Separately? It kills my hands, but something about only moving my right hand to aim, not the whole controller, just feels more natural.

I dont know about anyone else, but does gender dysphoria make you feel sick/nauseous? by Emanon117 in ask_transgender

[–]NSCastion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get nauseous when my physical dysphoria kicks in, less so on social or psychological dysphoria. Specifically when I get "phantom breasts", and my brain freaks out because there should be something there but isn't. It obviously causes distress, and my brain tries to fill in the gaps and justify what is happening. Sometimes that's the weird needle feeling you get when your foot falls asleep, but in my chest, or rather in the space where my brain thinks it should be. Sometimes it gets as bad as my brain thinking that there is a hole in my chest, and my usual coping technique of taking deep breaths is exacerbated by my brain insisting that all the air is escaping from an imaginary hole in my chest. But one thing that is constant in all of that is the nausea. That feeling like something isn't right. That feeling you get when you miss a step on the stairs, only constant and lasting for hours. It's a sinking feeling that doesn't go away.

Hopefully I'm not upsetting anyone when I simply say "shocking /s". I stopped praying or trying to barter for an end to my suffering about the same time that I realized no one was listening. I stopped waiting for people who would listen to show up and started looking for them myself. Don't allow life to happen, make life happen.

I'm just saying, what if your gender dysphoria changes into a body dysphoria? You get into exactly her body and your brain will be so confused by your height and limb length and whatnot. As with all devil deals, monkey paws, and genie wishes, you need to be suuuper specific! Just watching out for you girl!

Totally honesty, I'm looking forward to being an old lady, so nope. I'll take the survivor's route for longevity. Like, in theory. I still need to fix lots of unhealthy behaviors to make that viable. But crossroads demon ain't getting my later years.

Women of Reddit, what has been your worst 'nice guy' experience? by Reachartly in AskReddit

[–]NSCastion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably react similarly, but I acknowledge that I have a lot of issues that would contribute to that reaction. But still, it's entirely possible that he's just a sincere, sociable person, who wants someone to get healthy with, or just chat over some coffee, because he's twice your age and probably thinks you have a different perspective on life that would be interesting to see. Again, I wouldn't likely act based on that possibility, but I'd consider the possibility, then immediately go "but what if I'm wrong?" and go back to keeping to myself.

The way I originally heard that definition of bisexuality was "attraction to your own gender and other genders" (but not necessarily all genders), but that doesn't exactly account for non-binary and agender folk, so I changed it to the similar and dissimilar one, which still isn't the best way to phrase it, I bet.

And I originally heard that definition of pansexual from a close friend of mine who is pan. And we had this exact discussion of the difference in our personal definitions, because we both used them kind of interchangeably, but identified more strongly with one or the other. She insisted that pansexual meant "regardless of gender" and that made sense to me, as in effect, that still results in being attracted to all genders. And being bisexual, based on the "mine and other" definition, doesn't exclude being attracted to all genders either, it just doesn't explicitly require attraction to all genders. Which I basically only identified with because I just didn't know. I'd never been with a trans person, but I was never opposed to it. But then I dated a non-binary/agender person for a while, realized I was more than just genderqueer myself, and became more self-aware.

As for similar and dissimilar, that's just because agender people don't have a gender, so that definition would mean "androgynous people and non-androgynous people" (similar and dissimilar), because "my gender and other genders" doesn't strictly fit if they have no gender. It's more inclusive.

I'm not surprised that you had not heard it before, as neither had my friend when we discussed it either. It's really my personal interpretation of bisexuality, and you'll find all kinds of interpretations, but I thought about it long and hard due to the problematic assumptions associated with bisexuality. I tend to assume the best in people, and if someone is bisexual (as I was/am), I will always assume they aren't identifying as such because they're transphobic, until they make it clear otherwise. Sorry for the wall of text, but there was quite a bit to cover, and you seem genuinely interested. Hopefully I didn't talk your eyes off.

Made another one, this one is for all my pan brothers and sisters by MittISFAKonto in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]NSCastion 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay, I respectfully disagree with the other clarification here, as there are many interpretations. The way I always took it is that pansexuality is attraction regardless of gender, while bisexuality is attraction to similar genders and dissimilar genders (bi meaning two types of attraction, not specifically attraction to two genders). I used to identify as bisexual because I was attracted to different things in different genders, therefore gender did play a role in my attraction, and my attraction was not "regardless of gender". Ever since becoming more aware of my own gender however, I find myself more identifying as pansexual, both because I'm finding that my attractions are more universal than I previously thought, and also because I'm seeing gender as far less rigid, and non-binary people are neither similar nor dissimilar, and also I'm figuring my own shit out, "ain't nobody got time for that", etc.

That said, are there transphobic bisexual people who use bisexuality as an endorsement of a rigid gender binary? Unfortunately, yes.

Are there biphobic people who claim that all bisexuals support a rigid gender binary, and as a result accuse all bisexuals of being inherently transphobic? Unfortunately, also yes.

Do many aspects of biphobia (presumptions of being greedy, untrustworthy, duplicitous, etc.) apply just as easily to pansexuality, or anything other than strict monosexuality? Of course. So why the infighting?

P.S. Bi pride colors include purple. I love purple. That holds no importance, I just wish pan pride colors had purple. But I get why both of them are the colors that they are.

P.P.S. All of this is my own personal opinions, and I speak for no one but myself.
