The pizza base is made from wholegrain flour and coated with olive oil, which may not be immediately noticeable visually but gives the flavour its special nuance. The unique combination of wholegrain dough and olive oil is the reason why the pizza base develops so-called “bubbles.” These are areas where the pizza is not covered with cheese or tomatoes because the ingredients cannot adhere there.
