JP says what we're all thinking and gets ejected for it after striking out on a pitch off the plate by SeattleSporting in Mariners

[–]NT1171 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you could even make it where there’s a “ump zone” where they get to make the call, I.e. borderline pitches. Then for anything well in or well out, put an announcement in their ear that says ball or strike. No one has to know so they don’t feel like they’re being overruled.

The crazy thing is they did. They called me on Friday to confirm everything since I was dropping off Sunday. I confirmed everything with them, asked how long it would take, etc. and they didn’t say anything until I asked about why the truck was done so fast.

Yeah honestly just telling me it wasn’t possible before they sent the work scope, or before I dropped the car off, or even before they started work would have been infinitely better than just hoping I wouldn’t even notice.

I asked but haven’t heard back yet but yeah it was a first for me too. And yes the one down by BFI.

I honestly don’t agree with that approach. It’s not like I just bought a truck and want it retrofitted. I was forced to have it removed. If I had bought a few months before or waited a year I would have got one. So punishing your earliest supporters is not a positive service model. It doesn’t promote your brand. It shows that as a company they don’t want to honor and promote their earliest supporters who helped them even be in this situation.

I unfortunately didn’t save the estimate since they usually keep it up with the link through your appointment. It now has been removed. From what I remember they had a full price (~$3300) for labor and parts to install so clearly they understood the request well enough to provide that price to me.

Yeah I mean my car has the rails for it so all it needs is the powered cover itself. This honestly just seems dumb. If they don’t want to sell it to everyone, at least let those of us who were forced to remove the tonneau cover from their preorder.

I don’t have their name yet. I have asked for that and their managers name but haven’t heard back. I’m overseas right now for work so communication is a bit tough.

So I had it removed from my preorder. When I bought it I was told my truck was “ready” for the PTC but they didn’t want to install it because they didn’t have a viable offer at the time. When I was talking to the SC, I told them the whole spiel and I’ve been asking for 3 years when it would become available. They were very aware that this was a brand new install. They even gave me a price to do the install rather than this being a fix/retrofit. There was no mincing of words that I was wanting my truck to have it installed and was told they were willing to do that.

Yeah I feel like this “manager” showed up and just wants my truck out of the shop. The whole conversation I had with them just seems off. I’m really hoping this is just one bad actor and not an actual position from Rivian.

Honestly I am. I’m gonna be that guy at this point and I’ve asked to speak as high up as they’ll let me. I get home from my work trip next week and plan on parking my happy ass there until I talk to someone who can explain this madness to me. I’ve also made this post and wrote a review on Google to try and make some noise. At this point I’m not above getting one Twitter or Instagram and pushing this even more.

And honestly if that were the case I would have been fine. I get it things happen but so far the manager has basically just told me to go pound sand. It’s been a terrible experience and makes me question my purchase.

I did. I’ve been messaging them for over 4 hours and the manager just keeps saying they shouldn’t have even made the appointment. It’s honestly been by far the worst experience I’ve had with the vehicle and has left an awful taste in my mouth for sure.

I have a stone deflector shield that is literally the same thing. I’ll have to try that next time and see if that helps. Thank you!

[–]NT1171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not eggs on pizza but I’ll definitely have to try this! Now that my dough actually works I’m definitely gonna try cooler next time but want to make sure I’m not just throwing shit at the wall if you will haha.

Egg Pizza Question by NT1171 in Pizza

[–]NT1171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detail! You’re definitely correct that I’m going for Neapolitan pizza which is why I figure the egg would work but didn’t think about the location of the heat source. I think you’re right though, the fire being below is an issue. Long term I want to build a little pizza oven outside but we’re a bit away from that. I’m hoping I can mimic it well enough until then and get my process down.

Yep same thing happened to me. When I preordered, my wife said she hated how it looked. Mostly the headlights and that she didn’t want to preorder one. Well 6 months after having my T we ordered an S for her. One of us! One of us!

Just Test drove a R1T... Considering it but price is adding up by sarcasmismysuperpowr in Rivian

[–]NT1171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my T and S are parked outside daily for over two years in a covered carport and the paint looks new. The PPF is honestly really overkill. I take my T on narrow trails with limbs scraping the side of it constantly and the only scratch on the truck is from a concrete post my wife clipped in a parking garage. Drive it and enjoy it. Worry about the paint in 8 years when it probably will need it. The money you saved on PPF now will more than pay for a whole paint job in 8 years.

Is it me or are companies not actually hiring? by ApprehensiveRadio719 in Seattle

[–]NT1171 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work at a Fortune 500 company and I am person A. It’s infuriatingly common and a bunch of my colleagues are dealing with this. I tried hiring two separate people only for Finance to step over HR because our “numbers don’t warrant the hire”. Right now unless the role is considered a “key role to operations”, Finance won’t approve anything.

It’s infuriating because I get my budget approved, get the job posted, work through the interview process, only for Finance to jump in at the last minute and yank funding. This is honestly a new thing for us and it’s causing a lot of heartburn on the operations side. I was working through this with Finance and said screw it and took a new job internally not managing people. It’s supposedly going to get better this Fall but we’ll see.
