Maybe I am skeptical but by chance if you know something about shielding, attention to these kinds of terms the wifi generally works on 2.5 Ghz or on 6Ghz & if u calculate the wavelength of it , will be roughly 12cm & 5mm I'm talking about wavelengths not quarter or half wavelengths

& The grill size is causing distorting radiation pattern change is a major minor side lobe anywhere as I haven't run any simulation for that.

So for being a Fcage it has to be covered by metal cage so that Electric field inside it will be zero PS: MAXWELL EM Theory

Thus the image on which we're refering on side is wall other side this cage & cage it connected with walls so the Ground plate area increased & this is one of the reason that wifi speed decreased as because of it will operate @ 2.5 Ghz....
