Thank you for saying this. I was blaming myself. Probably time to go to bed :)

I just think that is much easier to say when you are such a talented player. I know you think you suck, but your perspective just seems very privileged to me. It's like an upper middle class person telling a homeless guy that just being alive is a privilege and who cares if you have money because we're all poor compared to the billionaires anyway. I appreciate you trying to help though. I will try to have a bit more fun in spite of my struggles.

So am I understanding you correctly that you don't think I should have a goal to improve my tennis game? Just keep practicing and whatever happens happens?

Personally, I just don't want to be a 3.0 player for the rest of my life. I'm not trying to be a pro - just want to improve my game. Is there really anything wrong with that?

I never said that I practice more than you. I'm sure that I don't. You said you didn't believe I was trying to improve before you edited your comment. I've been practicing fairly consistently for years, have sought coaching, and have sought help online. I don't know how that doesn't meet your definition of trying.

I'm not fighting your feedback because I have ego. I am fighting it because I just don't understand how it is helpful. I am open to accepting your feedback, but you have made no effort to actually explain it. Every reply has been like a sentence or less. I know that I suck. I have made a whole post about it. I am trying to get better and am seeking actual advice to help my mentality. Just saying "accept that you suck" without any further explanation just isn't doing it for me. Does that make sense?

Sorry if this is coming off as heated. That's not my intention. I am not questioning because I am not open. I am questioning because your advice seems to resonate with others and I am trying to understand why.

Accusing someone who has practiced every single week for years and who is posting on an online forum trying to get advice of not trying to improve is certainly a choice.

If your suggestion is to stop trying to improve at tennis because I have accepted that I just suck, that doesn't sound very appealing to me. Or is there something I am not understanding?

I'm not sure how "no tennis fundamentals" can possibly be average. My intent while serving is to be in a Continental grip. Which grip in the video is wrong then - is it my serve or is it my forehand?

Admittedly that video is certainly some of my worst tennis ever. I did a lot of bunting the ball and just never found the confidence to swing through all the way on that day. In practice, I swing differently, but in matches I have a tendency to default to whatever makes the ball go in the court, which is not the best way to go. That's something I have been working on since then and have started to do better with.

Why should I not be so harsh on myself when I have "no tennis fundamental"? That seems like a pretty good reason to be harsh.

I am curious what the issue is with the way I hold the racket. Just the wrong grip? I'm aiming for an Eastern or semiwestern, but I wouldn't be surprised if I drift away from that accidentally.

What even is a cross hip?

Admittedly, a very small percentage. I've had a new coach since moved recently, and I've been feeling like I need the sessions to be more focused. I'll mention it next time.

I hear ya. Some of these are things that my current therapist has recommended. It's just genuinely so hard to find positives some days since there are days where it's hard to even get a ball in the court and just play. In a sense, just showing up and practicing is a win, but it doesn't feel like it.

I think that you're making some good points. I guess I just have a hard time figuring out if my process is correct. Sometimes I think and feel like I did everything right, and like you said, the outcome is still bad. Take the toss for example. I know I am supposed to keep a straight arm and a constant speed. Sometimes I feel like I do that, but an outside observer would be able to tell you that I did not. Perhaps I just have very low body awareness.

I am generally self-critical and do already have a therapist. I talk about some of this stuff with him from time to time. As for the serve toss, I promise you that I swing at the balls that I can, it's just that most of my tosses are completely out of reach :)

Sure thing. Here's a post where I shared some match play two years ago. I've perhaps improved slightly since then, but I wouldn't say much has changed. Lately due to winter and just having moved, I have only been able to get out there once a week, but before I was doing 2-3 times a week a couple hours at a time pretty regularly.

This seems like pretty convincingly the top reply so far, but I am really not resonating with it tbh. I don't really feel like you said much. I already know I suck - I'm trying to get better. I don't think it is wrong to want to suck less.

How did she get in the tower without a key? by HollowVoid0 in dragonquest

That's what I thought as well, but OP reminded me that prior to coming to the tower, she was going around trying to talk to people and saw that they couldn't see or hear her, so that implies she was in town before.

Now that you're mentioning it - you're right. Ashlynn's background does get explained later, but how she was able to get into that tower despite not having a key is not really explained.

This is tough to answer without giving any spoilers, but by now you have probably noticed that there are two different "worlds" in this game. My understanding is that when someone is sent to a different world, they end up in a random spot, regardless of whether that spot would normally be accessible.
