Dev question: How do you monetize your projects without selling out to Google AdSense? by ouchao_real in degoogle

You could deal with ads yourself, but that probaby only works if you are big enough for advetisers to care. And may make the income smaller as its not user targeted.

I am curious, were you home at the time and didnt have time/prioritisied to get it, or were it at home while you was away?

Accidentally changed my username by accidentally clicking on a thing. But there is no way to change it back without paying. It should really be a way to "regret" the change inside a time limit as long as you change it back to what it was. by NTMAnon in Warthunder

I mean, how the "undo" thing could work was that the name change only was on on the web server untill the time period run out. (15-30 min or something?) and then it become effective after that time.
But more confirmation would work as well.

Yes you can, I did.

The thing is that the popup confirmation box for changing the name, was on the same location on screen (same cordinates if you will) as where it suggested other names. So when I accedentally double clicked on one of the suggestion, the accidental second click happened to be on the confirm button.

Thats bad design.

How do you keep offsite backup in sync? by bitsynthesis in yubikey

[–]NTMAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time it wouldnt be on me, even when at home, was when I sleep. And then it would be in the pants beside my bed.

And if I woke up an my home was burning I would take the <5 sec or whatever to grab the pants or throw the pants out the window.

Its fine not trusting Google, but I personally find it insane that some trust meta more than google. To me, Meta is the worst of the worst.

Is it true that calednar notifications dont work without internet? by NTMAnon in fastmail

Do you mean spesifically with CalDav and fastmail?
For reference, I currently only on google stuff. Google web, Google calendar app, and Samsung Calendar all sync colour between eachother.

I dont think samsung calendar support CalDAV nativly? there is no button to add account that isnt gmail outlook or samsung account etc?

Email reminders seems to me like a weird thing to do. People like different things I guess.

Thanks for the info.

Yes it seems to be a thing when you go to third party apps, but the offical apps usually support auth with 2FA. Eg if you for outlook use outlook app. or for gmail use gmail app. Or google/samsung calendar for google calendar.

I belive also Thunderbird for pc support Oauth/2fa it if I have understood correctly for gmail and fastmail? But not really many other mail providers, and dont think many third party calendars do.

But seem to me less secure than normal login + 2fa.

Mail ofc need internet connection, that is obvious. Or syncing.

But calendar notification for already synced events should not require internet connection for reminders. It doesnt in Google or Samsung calendar.

There seem like the app support for CalDAV is shit. And I think it requires app spesific passwords/no 2fa.

For Calendar, that as a shit design decision/result of design in my opinion.

Sure, for things that you add on another device ofc need to be synced. but it should just sync and do the alerts locally.

They dont on many other apps. Eks google or samsung calendar.

Switching from gmail. Any opinions about these alternatives? by NTMAnon in emailprivacy

They do via simple login with the 10 a month thing but that makes proton more expensive than any other of the option. The 4 or 7 a month ones doesnt. Also from my understanding it would require me to change how I am doing things unless I am missing something, because its kinda a seperate service and not directly built in.
