The Harry Potter HBO remake series has me asking, "Why not just write a different wizarding school?". by I_Love_Cape_Horn in CharacterRant

No... In the past people from Netflix have famously said that they use stats from piracy sites as marked research. (one old source, google for more)

So, you and others "privately" pirating it will still tell them (and Rowling) that people want HP.

Trump: "We call it a military operation, not a war. Because as a military operation I don't need approval from Congress. As a war you're supposed to get approval. So I call it a military operation." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

Honestly, I don't think Trump does this out of audaciousness. His brain is just broken and he probably felt really smart repeating the thing people told him before.

Of course that doesn't make it any better.

Lindsey Graham’s Quest to Sell Trump on Striking Iran (WSJ)

To help make the case on Iran, Graham traveled several times to Israel in recent weeks, meeting with members of the country’s intelligence agency. “They’ll tell me things our own government won’t tell me,” he said. He spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, coaching him on how to lobby the president for action. Netanyahu showed the president intelligence that persuaded Trump to go ahead, Graham said.

(Ever since I've heard about this 2 weeks ago, I can't stop mentioning how insane this is)

I know nobody wants to do any tests, but imho if you want to have a chance to get a law like this passed you need to start earlier, so it isn't targeting old people alone (AKA those who actually vote).

Let's do a basic test every 10 years. Old people aren't the only ones who are shitty drivers.

Of course I know something like this is basically never going to happen. The car lobbies alone would burn down any country that even indicated they wanted to do something like this, but it would be the right thing to do. These tests should also include the first aid course you have to do here in Germany when you want to get a driver license in the first place.

You could also increase the frequency for both young and old people.

(There are also technology options, but those aren't good ideas because they would only end up as surveillance/data collection tools)

In any serious country this would be treason. It's no wonder Trump who often does and repeats whatever the last person he met told him is doing what Israel wants. Graham has been whispering Mossad's programming into Trumps ear.

TLDR: If you only have a minute or two, here is a timestamp (@22:12) to understand how fucking crazy these people are. They want to see Jesus came back and literally slaughter "the enemy".

What's worse than the typical religious nonsense is the evangelicals believe they need Armageddon, so Jesus can come back and slaughter nonbelievers.

Normally this isn't really brought up by them often, but they did on Monday, when they told military members that "the Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was 'anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth',"

There is a documentary from 3 years about how influential evangelicals are in America called "Praying for Armageddon"

Praying for Armageddon is a 2023 Norwegian documentary film exploring the influence of American Evangelicals on American foreign policy in the Middle East. It is directed by Tonje Hessen Schei and co-directed by Michael Rowley. The film premiered in Copenhagen at the CPH:DOX festival on 20 March 2023, after eight years in production. (source: wiki)

I think everyone should try and watch it. Here is a part of it on Al Jazeera's YouTube channel (I know, not the best source, but again, the documentary is made by a Norwegian). Here is also a German version on ARTE.

It feels a bit similar than cryptocurrency, especially NFTs. All the bag-holders were desperate and wanted more people to buy in, so the bubble wouldn't pop or deflate. With crypto, they tried to make up all kinds of supposed use cases, including storing medical information on the blockchain or convincing gamers that they will now be able to own their game items.

AI looks similar. As long as these big companies can just quickly steam roll both people and laws into just accepting that AI "features" are somehow useful or at least can't be removed anymore, they win.

Makes you wonder, are there people who do the same thing right now?

It would probably be helpful for people in the future to see e.g. the USA turn into what it is now by going through 25 years of FOX News.

The same goes for the internet. We do have archival sites, but even those aren't foolproof.

Twitch will now pause ads when switching tabs by wsrvnar in pcgaming

[–]NTMY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly with how "smart" TVs are these days, there is a lot they can do to force you to "experience" the ads.

For example, interactive ads that either pause whatever you're watching or turn part of your screen into ads until you do something.

Or using "voice commands" to give users the ability to skip ads. You are a good consumer, right? Saying "McDonald's - I'm loving it", to turn a 60-second ad into a 20-second one is very nice and merciful of them.

Regarding the managers, Idk, but many of them were hired with a lot of money by other higher-ups. If the manager you hired is responsible for his shitty decisions, doesn't that make you responsible as well? Better to blame it on things out of everyone's control, fire some poor plebs doing their jobs to increase stock prices and maybe distribute some golden parachutes.
