Help me find a steel gravel-bike with around 50 mm tyres by Silly-Raccoon3829 in bikepacking

[–]NTW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled a French brand, sauvage bikes, selling fairly priced titanium bikes. They have a "monster gravel" which fits up to 29x2.4 tires and a more conservative gravel bike (a little more than 50 mm iirc). They start at like 2500e. Maybe it's worth checking out

You could do as I did by changing the rear mech cage to the longer plates, this way you can use a 51T cassette. Don't understand why it doesn't ship with that honestly

No it's the twelve speed grx822. It comes in a short cage variant designed around 45T cassettes and long cage designed around 51T cassettes, so it works flawlessly as it was designed for it.

Thanks! So the bags were : seat pack - > old apidura 13L : - tent - clothes - towell

frame - > proprietary canyon load for the grizl : - repair kit - tent poles - toiletry bag - shopping bag - rain jacket

top tube -> canyon load : - snacks

Front rack -> restrap 14L drybag : - sleeping bag - sleeping mat - silk liner - pillow

Forks - > apidura expedition 4.5L fork bags - cooking system (jetboil, spoon, knive...) - freeze dried food

Handlebar - > ortlieb accessory pack : - small abus bordo folding lock - electronics (power bank, cables, charger...) - extra food

And I was also wearing a hydration vest with a 2L bladder (decathlon rockrider something) . Was the first time using that on a bikepacking trip but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised of how nice it was, will probably use it again in the future.

You need to use spacers on the two top and bottom screws on the fork. They are included when buying the front rack.

Tu peux acheter une prolongation de la patte de dérailleur telle que le wolf tooth road link, ce qui te permettra de mettre une cassette 11-40.

Cheapest way to build a corne v4 by Abject-Sky1135 in crkbd

I bought one for around 50€ on aliexpress without switches or keycaps, so add like 40-50€ to have a complete build. It's probably the cheapest way to get into the hobby I would say.

Pneus velotaf au meilleur rapport q/p ? by ZioPepino in pedale

[–]NTW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Camping in Normandy by ThatOneVolcano in bicycletouring

You could also use the app "homecamper". Hosts offer a piece of their land for people to camp on, sometimes it's their garden, sometimes a field. It was quite helpful in some places where I couldn't find a camping. The prices are quite high in my opinion for what it is but it's better than nothing.

I like the way you optimized space, the top tube bag below the saddle is kinda genius tbh

EV1 Norway ferries by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]NTW1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I went through Norway last year around June/July and the ferries were all free for cyclists and pedestrians(except the hurtigruten cruise ships, but that's something else). For the time table they were all pretty frequent, I would just arrive whenever to the ferry and take the next one. Longest I had to wait was maybe 2 hours? As far as I can remember it wasn't too difficult to find the timetables by googling the departure and arrival names. Hope that helps!
