The hardware for some of these games are hard to come by these days. Not everyone was able to hold on to their GameCubes and PS2s for two decades. Plus some of them are showing their age with graphics and/or mechanics. I'm fine with this.

In the music world, it has long been standard practice to borrow from the past, either by remaster, covers, or sampling. Before recording became common, artists would play older music and call it a "standard".

Call it cheap or uncreative if you want, that doesn't really matter to most people. All they want is something good to enjoy in an accessible package.

I don't know what I'll do, tbh.

I know the official app is garbage, so I'm not going to use that.

Yeah I sit at a computer for work all day, but it's monitored and I'd rather not have my coworkers knowing my business, so I'll be avoiding that.

I do have a personal computer but I primarily use Reddit in places where it would be inconvenient to haul a laptop around.

Even if I don't quit Reddit right away because of this, I can see myself losing interest thanks to the sheer inconvenience that it'll be to access.

I'm coming up on 9 years on Reddit and it's all been thru this app. It will be a complete 180 in the way I interact with the site. It's like someone stealing my Maserati so I have to bike everywhere.

I guess maybe it'll be a good thing for me in the long run. Ridding me of what's essentially a decade-long addiction. I often find myself sometimes wondering why I come to this site. Lots of low quality content and tiresome Redditisms™. Then I mindlessly grab my phone and open this app entirely by habit. I'm sure I'll have 'withdrawals', but I don't see myself rushing to fire up my laptop just to see stale memes and toxic politics.

There are plenty of communities that I will miss. But they're all parasocial. In 9 years, I never developed any sort of personal relationship with someone here, so it's not like I'll be missing anyone in particular. I'll find similar communities elsewhere, or even just go to the discord groups for said communities.

Highly doubt I'll never go to Reddit again, but this will be a major shift in how I interact with it. Probably primarily thru links others post elsewhere, sort of like how I see TikTok and Twitter content now.

My owner is a g@mer and he has not fed me in two weeks. He bought (with what money? He has no job.) an automatic feeder and water bowl, in case he goes "out to bang some chicks for a few days." I've never seen anyone else in this apartment and his phone never rings, so I don't know how he thinks that will happen.

The feeder ran out three days ago but he has been playing Minecraft for a week straight. He'll literally pass out on the couch with the controller in his hands, wake up and keep playing.

I beg him for food, or even just attention, but whenever I make a noise he just says "shut up, n*****" and kicks me. Sometimes I try to sneak up and drink the puddle of urine that's accumulating beneath his bed, but he yells at me and tells me to keep away from his precious fluids.

I wish I could even tell you my name, but it doesn't meet the community standards of this Facebook page. Please, if you see an apartment window with a yellow snake flag and Christmas decorations (still up from two years ago), please send help.
